What could this be?

This little stick just appeared.
It is stiff like a little stick, but is swinging in the water flow from the attachment to the rock. This thing is maybe an inch long today. It is maybe the diameter of a 7mm pencil lead.

It does look like a pine needle a little bit,

I do have one. Just got him Saturday. That does look like a spine? It is purple tho, but it sure looks like a spine.
