Aquatic life t5 hybrid questions plz help:)

Soo show me some pics! Also do you use the Orphek bars with other lights? Which Orphek do you use? How good are the results as far as growth and color?
Oh well...its a new tank so no results to show however they seem very well built. And very sexy.
I have the 48" blue plus and sky blue with 3 noops. I haven't gotten a par meter into the big tank yet so I don't know.

They don’t ramp either so it’s 100% or nothing. I had them on a timer until I got the Apex. They’re on for about 7 hours each day.

Orphek led bars have mounting solutions that would work with your hydra. Go look on their website. They have the blue plus mimic option for these bars. They have acrylic and t slot mounts. Both would look low profile and good in your man cave :).

With a 40B even 2 T5's with an LED fixture is going to be a lot of light if they are both on at the same time. I have two Black boxes and two 36" T5's over a 60 Frag that's 4'x2' and it's more than enough. Four T5's over a 40B would need to have the LED turned off when they are on or the par would be over 400 at the bottom of that shallow of a tank.

Would a couple of Orphek LED bars be something you'd consider? They get very close to Blue+ T5 and never need to have the bulbs replaced. And two of those would put you right in the same price range after you buy the T5 bulbs and they have great mounting options.
I'll have to disagree with you on 400 Par at the bottom of a 40 breeder with 4 T5 bulbs. I have a 36" Aquatic Life Hybrid and mounted 10" off the water, I had 100-150 PAR at the bottom of my 40 Breeder with the T5's on and my Mitras set to 80% using the Radion AB+ spectrum. (2x Blue Plus, Coral plus, and Actinic). If you want more supplementary spectrum and less shadowing T5's are still a good addition to LED's. Today's LED's have less gaps in spectral output than in the past, and the Orphek bars are a great option, I agree. My T5's are only on from 10am to 2pm, so just for the peak period in my schedule. The LED's are on the rest of the time for ramp up and ramp down.

To me, there’s a bit of irony in fashioning diffusers onto LED’s.

Kind of like, dressing them up to act more like T5’s 😃

I agree that a combo of LED + T5 is often the way to go.
The result is Punch + Spread uniformity

On the topic of Orphek OR3 bars, the mounting options are numerous to fit ANY situation. Here are some pictures of 2 mounts I am trying to utilize them in some directional light to enhance my Radions.

in my frag tank…

Now in my display…

In the display I was looking for more light when viewing through the side of the tank. I have found that LEDs mounted facing down do not provide much if any directional light like a T5 bulb. Mounting LED strips like I have done in my display improves results I had with a LED and T5 combo.

I would take a good hard look at the Orpheks. It will give to the clean look you're after and not have all the light bleed T5's have.
@Trizzino post up some pics for Rick please. @dball711 swears by them too.
Here is my setup on my lagoon. Two OR3’s and an XR30 Blue.

It's a completely diy retrofit. This isn't something I would have in a living space. The mounts and wires are mostly inside the black boxes. The ballast is actually a spacer for the boxes.

Here's another right after I made it.

So jealous anytime I see pictures of a dedicated fish/equipment room.

I would think for a few bucks a fab shop would be able to cut out some from the center of the standard bracket and then weld it back up. Just repaint it after.
