I’ve reached a point where I’m happy with the scape I’m putting together for a 40 breeder. What do y’all think about it?

I'm no scape expert, nor do I really have feedback, but I just want to say that if you're happy with it. Stay with it. At the end of the day, its you who is going to be staring at it all the time. :)

Other than that, I think it is nice and open for fish to swim around and good spots for a variety of corals.

Looks good! If anything maybe take that rock on the bottom and add it to the one to the right like an arm sweeping out/around front perhaps?

That’s not a bad idea. I’ve got more rock I could use to make a branch off that rock. I’ve got some Xenia in my current tank and I think I’m gonna use the small rock as a Xenia island

Looks great! My critical review follows:

Its a bit tall, which will create shadows and reduce room for corals long term (corals mostly grow upwards). My rule of thumb is to keep rocks maxing at 30% height, definitely no more than 50%. This looks like roughly 70%. (This is the hardest fix. Sorry. Feel free to ignore it, and follow your own way.)

I agree with removing that 1 base rock. Empty space, especially on the sandbed, gives the illusion of a larger tank. Conversely, a lack of space can make a tank feel overcrowded and smaller.

Lastly, and most easily, i would scoot the left big rock back a bit. Its a little close to the front, which will create shadows and encourage your fish to hang out behind it. Moving the rocks back slightly will encourage them to be in front where you can easily see them.

All in all, i completely agree with civics! It looks great. I especially like that your center has a big open area. And as long as you're happy with it, that is what matters most!
