August Meeting: Field trip to Seachem!

August Meeting: Seachem Laboratories
Date: Friday, August 24th
Time: 4:00pm
Location: 1000 Seachem Drive
Madison, GA 30650

Tour of the lab
The crew at Seachem has graciously offered to host this month's meeting. We will be getting to see the lab in the works! You'll have the exclusive chance to see how your favorite products are made. There will also be a special presentation given about some reef related topics. We're still deciding on a good one

Prizes!!!
That's right! Raffle prizes
Raffle tickets will be sold, before the tour, for the Epic End of the Year Raffle. Those tickets will be placed in a raffle that will follow the tour and presentation. Seachem is offering two buckets of salinity and a 2L pack of Fusion 1 and 2. There will also be some special goodies for EVERYONE that comes.

Pizza and party
After the tour and raffle drawing, we'll be having a pizza party at Amici Italian Cafe. Amici Cafe is located in Madison:

113 South Main St., Madison, GA 30650 https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=1...ra=ls&t=m&z=13

There will be pizza and cokes on the ARC's tab. Any adult beverages will be welcome, but on your bill

RSVP
Due to the complexity of planning this event, I will need an approximate head count to give to Seachem and Amici Cafe. Please send a PM to Dylan's better half (just an account I set up for my wife when we went to the holiday party last year). I will be checking this daily.

In the PM, please include how many people will be coming with you.
*This is important*

This head count must be turned into Seachem no later than August 22nd.

I hope everyone can make it to this one, it's going to be a ton of fun!

Glad to hear that. I think we should wait to do the frag trade. This meeting may go on for a while.

Any shopping malls or other interesting family places to visit in the area? I require a buffer zone so that I can focus on learning reef stuff?

As if this hobby isn't expensive enough! I notice every time you go to a reef function your wife goes to the mall. LOL I guess that is the price you have to pay huh????? But then, the only thing more expensive than a happy wife is an unhappy wife right?

A shopping mall in Madison is more like a gas station that sells tshirts

rdnelson99:

You have found my "secret to success". Last month's buffer zone, Cumberland Mall, wasn't a good "buffer". About one hour into our meeting with "Mr. Jack Kent, I received a text message "The mall is too small and too expensive!"

Over twenty now, I've learned that marriage is a compromise between two different "persons". You give a little and in return you get a little. My wife got to see the Cumberland Mall as I got to learn a lot from Mr. Jack Kent. I see this as a win-win scenario.

As for this hobby being expensive, I'm still trying to figure out how to purchase the things that I need to setup a complete 125 gallon package I purchased last summer. The tank has not seen an ounce of H2O yet while I determine just exactly what other "things" I require to establish my new 125 gallon home.

As per the happy vs. unhappy : I've seen both sides and I definitely strive to stay on the joyful side of the neighborhood . That's why I have determined to search for "buffer zones" on my roadtrips to the different monthly meetings. I guess you can call this "my family planning"?

It appears in another reply "no malls, maybe a gas station that sells T-shirts?" How about a place to have your hair done or maybe a nail salon?

i was there a few months ago i didnt get out much i was inside the seachem facility most of my time there but from what i did see madison is a very small town and she could walk around to all the little shops and things around but you could do that in about an hour or 2 so make sure you have a contingency in place to keep her occupied lol.

when you get off I-20 and turn right and go about 20 -25 miles. you can go to Eatonton and visit the Uncle Remus Museum.

it's been a couple of years since i have been down that way but on the way down there on the right side of the road is a old counrty store that processes deer but they also sell the red skin hoop cheese. not the fake stuff they sell in stores around here.

or go the other way and go to UGA. the have an awsome store at the staduim. the sell all kinds of christmas tree stuff during the footbal games.
