Need to replace RO/DI filters...options for new!
OK so my current system is this:
http://filterdirect.com/product_info...products_id=30 Bought it used a year ago. Never replaced the filters. Need to either spend about $130 in filters and shipping...and still have no pressure gague, or no TDS meter... OR I could buy new from either AWI or BRS. AWI is running a special for 1 set of free replacement filters (38 dollar value) BUT the cheapest one that has a in line TDS is this: http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1...TDS-Meter.html So that is $215 reducing for the exchange filters and the ARC discount to even the playing field. It is 150 GPD, but I already have a 4gallon pressure tank to store water in...so GPD isnt such a big deal. BRS has this: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/...us-system.html $199 for a 75 gpd system. Less than $20 difference with discounts and added perks...what do you think guys? CJ P.S. IF I keep what I have I will also have to find a new John Guest shutoff valve...add $10 to the $130 Edit: OR I could go with this: http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1TYPHOONIII/TYPHOON-III-AQUARIUM-RODI-75-or-100-GPD.html and add a 30 dollar dual TDS meter... $200 plus shipping and free filters... Dude, you are in the same boat as me. I opted for the BRS Stage 5 plus. Filters are half as much when it comes time to replace them.

To repalce my coralife filters and membrane was going to cost well over a $100 and I want a tds meter. That would all cost over $150. So I went ahead and bought a brand new BRS stage 5+ for $200. And when I replace the filters, they are half as much as coralife filters. It is more cost effective in the long rum to get the BRS.

I guess we get no discounts with BRS...I guess the free shipping works however...
CJ Question...Has anyone had any experience with a float valve shutoff hooked directly to the RO/DI and the sump as an ATO? Then a line with a ball valve shutoff t'ed off the ATO line for filling buckets for mixing? Last edited by Cjsparky; 06-14-2012 at 8:02 PM.. |

Second question...are the DI filters not evvective if the water is flowing at a rate of say a gallon a minute?
