Electric Flashing Flame Scallops

Thanks for bringing in the flashing scallops for me. I'll try to get a little video of them tomorrow after they acclimate. So cool. You should have no problem selling that last one, I almost took it too today!

I have heard these are very tough animals to keep. Is this your first time trying?

It's funny - they're not actually electric. Jeremy found a video that slows the flash down. The scallop actually has a fold inside that it rolls on the top and bottom that flashes the bright color. They just look electric.

Nothing directly. They're filter feeders so whatever's in the water column.

Very cool. Do you know how long they live in the wild? I was told that the Bay scallop that is harvested in the Appalachee Bay only live about 18 months in the wild.
