Calcium Reactor Media

What media does everyone use? I have been using Carib Sea and was thinking about trying the Reborn stuff. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Jonathan

I have been using Carib Sea ARM for years. It works great for me...

ARM. Large in the main reactor, small stuff in the second chamber.

Thanks. I did my annual reactor clean out and the geomarine media had turned to sludge. Definitely gonna try larger media this time.

I use the small ARM and do get some sludge at the end of the run but it doesn't stop circulation. I really like how the small disolves...

I think what you will find is that the reactor media that is he size of crushed coral dissolves better because it has more surface area for contact with the carbonic acid that forms in the reactor. This also means you need to be more careful with the controller setpoint...too low and it turns to mush.

The larger media can take a lower setting on the controller without sludging up.

I use the large size media because that is what GEO recommends, and I have GEO reactors on my reefs.
