Eunicid Worm?
I had let the aptaisa get out of control in my 29g cube. Decided to totally break it down and move livestock (temporarily to a 20g. I was breaking up rock to try to just move my mini carpets without the aptaisa. I broke the rock in a 5g bucket and when I picked it up, a MONSTER came oozing out of the rock. Needless to say, I freaked out.![]() Anyway, now that I've calmed down and got a good look, I am sure it is a eunicid worm. It is about a foot or better. Now the big question is what to do with it?? I decided I don't want to kill it, but I am not sure I like it enough to have a dedicated tank. Soooo......my 29g(now 20g) only contains: Clownfish pair 1 LTA 1 Maxi Mini Carpet 4 Mini Carpets I don't plan on adding any fish, maybe some more minis or other anemones. Do you think I should just put him back in this tank???? ![]() Do you see any issues with this?

I hate them.
They almost trashed my first tank set up. I started with softies like most and they freakin eat all my stuff. My two worms where huge. I would feed it to a giant crab. But thats just what I did. You are brave to have it still. I hate them, did I say that already, haha. And couldn't sleep knowing they where in the tank. |

Yea, he's really freaking me out, but I don't know what to do with him!
I don't have any large crabs, or anything that would eat him. I have no softies or any coral in this tank, and don't plan to add any. This is a dedicated Clownfish/anemone tank. Seems like he has been in there a long time and not been an issue. So, maybe it would be ok to put him back. I just wanted some one to confirm that opinion. I am certainly not crazy about him, but don't want to kill it. I would be afraid to flush him as he might swim back up and bite my bottom! ![]() Just looked at him again! I think he may be 2 feet long!

PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES.. !!!!
is he faster than a CGI anaconda? I had one in my tank when I first set it up... looked under a rock one morning and couldn't figure out why my cleaner shrimp was stuck to the "roof" of the rock covered in "goo".. I pulled it out with a hemistat... and saw my eunicid zip, zip, zip back into a hole.. It actually made me jump it moved so darn fast.. I left the lights off for 20 mins and flashed a light up under the rock to see if it was still there / get a good look at it and it zipped away again.. about the 3rd or 4th time and I decided to get that rock out of my system... (luckily, it didn't have any corals on it)... I freshwater dipped it and the worm fell out.. left the rock in the refugium for 2 weeks until I felt alright about putting it back in the tank. kill it... kill it with fire... |

Amy, I know it is a living creature and you do not want to be responsible for the death of ANY animal but look at the pros and cons of possessing it. I cant seem to think of any pros and a ton of cons.
I will eat it for a $10 ![]() Ok I might be crazy but not that crazy. If you decide you do not want it, I will buy it from you and feed to to Harley. |

Well....there is about to be an aptaisa massacre! ![]() If it survives in that bucket till I get off work tomorrow, I will bring him to you. I wouldn't even want to watch you eat it! But if you have a use for him(food or otherwise) he's yours! No charge!I'll try to find my camera to get a pic!

You know....being a girl, I was grossed out(when I first got in this hobby) at the thought of having snails in my tank.
![]() I guess it's amazing what you get used too, cause I think this worm is actually quite interesting. He's as good looking as most eels. lol Don't get me wrong, I don't keep eels. Just sayin'......

Yep, that was me! Anyway, he's still alive! I felt bad and dropped an airline in the bucket. Off to work. Hopefully, I will get off at a decent hour. Then I'll be calling Chris to see if he really wants this thing for something. Otherwise........anyone else interested?

Yikes!! These are new to me. Is there anything that is a natural predator of these (other than determination and a pair of tongs)? Are they relatively rare to have issues with or fairly common? Do they only/mostly eat corals? (from reading some other Google'd stories it seems that they will eat anything, including fish).
Just getting in to the hobby, and seeing one of these in the tank would have my wife clamoring for me to get right back out... |

I had one about 8 years ago and fed it to my septic tank.
This along with other critters is the reason I bleached all my live rock before putting it in my sump or 120g tank. |
