water change hose

What type of hosing is everyone using to get water from their mixing buckets to the tank. I mix water in the garage and it's a good 25'. Loooking at HD it looks like it's going to cost me $40 to get 30' of clear hosing. Does anyone have an alternative?

I have wheels on my brute, and I role it to the front door. not 5 feet away.

I have wheels on my brute, but there's a step in the way.
What about one of these:

When I had my 90, I used a 50' garden hose. I mixed SW in a 35G brute can and I installed a bulkhead in the bottom of the can, with an outlet that ran to a union joint, connected to an Iwaki(sp?) pump, and the outlet of the pump to the 50' hose. Install a ball valve between the pump's union and the can (which I didn't do!), and you can turn the water off and remove the hose and/or pump when not using. When ready to use, hook up the pump and hose, turn the ball valve and fill 'er up! When draining the water, I use the same hose to siphon the water out. Roll up and store when not doing water changes. (Just don't hook that one up for outside gardening and drink out of it by mistake! That's why I got a yellow one from Wally that was only for tank water.)

I wouldn't (and don't) use a regular water hose. Be sure to get one that is for potable water. I found them at Big Lot's for $8.

My water is on one end of the house, some of my tanks are on the other end - 75-80 ft. What size tubing, would 3/4, 5/8 or 1" be better and would a mag 7 push the water that far? I'm tired of carring water but I love my tanks

I think I'm going to get the 5/8" diameter. It will fit on a mag 5/7 and will push water that far easily. Wanna order together to cut down on shipping? I need 50'. It's only sold in 50' increments.

I built a "syphon" out of pvc and put a strainer on the tank side - so no fish get sucked up. I then attach a long hose and have it drain 30 feet from the tank in the living room to the bathtub. I have to run to work, but i will take pics and post later. To fill the tank, I use a sub pump and the same set up. I don't carry buckets any more.

I repeat this only because I see everybody talking about regular water hose use.....DO NOT USE A REGULAR WATER HOSE.....that is provided you don't want to kill fish. Regular water hoses are not for potable water use. You can't drink from one so why do you think it would be good for your fish? The leech lead among other chemicals. USE ONLY A HOSE MARKED AS POTABLE WATER USE.

I'm in for a 100', which 5/8" hose? The .49 or .66c? I'm reading that it only comes in 50' lengths. I e-mailed them just to be sure. I still want it even if i half to connect them. Thanks, Holley Anyone else want to get in on this?

I've been using the Python No spill Clean and Fill hoses for years. They work very well and come with vac attachments, and about everything you need. All you'd need to do is put a garden hose adapter on your Mag output and you could fill with it. Or remove the siphon tube from the end of the python and the tubing fits perfectly on a 1/2" hose barb attached to your Mag.

Makes a good siphon hose for cleaning out your sump

The 25' version is about $30.
