Hmmm will they fit 5/8" ? I mean how wide does the mount open up?

Only opens up 1/2". I screwed eye bolts into the wood cabinet and attached it to the eye bolts and angled it towards the water. It swivels on the mount legs so attaching it to the top of the cabinet and pointing it down saved me access space.
