90g

Hello all.

I have been a member since April or May '08. I started off about 10 years ago with a 30g and knew nothing about SW aquariums. I wanted one cause the fish looked neat. To my disappointment it failed. I didn't know of RO water, live rock, water changes etc. I set the 30g up just like a freshwater tank. Undergravel filter, box filter and let her rip. After that failure I moved on to just fish and reptiles. In March of '08 my younger brother wanted me to watch his tank for him while he moved and got settled in at his new place in Alaska. Which by the way is not done yet. He is still enroute and I am still watching his tank. He had brought his old 75g RR tank down and set it up at my house and showed me the ropes. Gave me tons of links to read to get as much knowledge about reefkeeping as I could before he placed his inhabitants into my care. I let the tank run for 6 weeks as recommended then bought my first fish, a Niger Trigger. I was still rather unfamiliar with Fish only etc and he told me that the trigger might eat all his stuff and not to get anymore fish till he bought his stuff down and set it up. Once he brought his stuff down it was game over. I instantly fell in love with the corals, fish, inverts and all the things that made up his reef. I decided that if I was going to fish sit his stuff I would like to do so in my own tank, that way when he came back to get his fish and corals I would have a established system to stock. As it is now this is the current system. The equipment is mine and most of the corals and fish are his with the exception of the trigger and 20 or so lbs of rock. The tank, stand and sump were Victor's old set up. It is a very nice setup and I am glad he sold it for such a great deal. Thanks again Victor!! My camera is not too good but hope the pictures are ok!

Nick

Update

Just thought I would post a update and let you all know how its going. I moved the rock around. I wanted to get the rock off the sides of the tank to help with getting flow around behind the rocks to keep the detritus build up down. Crabs have been sorta slacking in this department. Seemed they were unable to get around some of the rocks to get back there and clean up. I also swapped the light and got a T-5 setup. And added some frags, that I got from a few member. Thanks to Jin and Glenn for the frags!

My camera is not the best, sorry in advance.

2 are mine from my 20g and 2 are my brothers. They seem to all get along. The small male from my 20g kinda does the solo thing in the other side of the tank. And the maroon is just evil.

Bob,
The blue was in the tank first and the yellow was added once the 90g was set up. We made sure to get one atleast the same size as the blue to make sure that they would play nice. The only time they pick on each other is during feeding. But I feed one on one side and the other on the other side. Seems to work ok, for now.

Thanks for the kind words. Its been a lot of work. I am starting to be able to sit in front of it without noticing something that needs to be done.
