d50
I have the same camera. The auto focus will not get in close enough for goos Zoa shots. I get around the fact by putting the LENS on manual and focusing by hand. Works OK . One day I will get a Macro lens and all will be well. Here are a few shots taken of my tank with my D50

Oh yea, my avatar was taken with the D50 on vacation this summer in Fla.It really is a lot of camera for the money. All the stuff you need and none of the BS you probably would never use anyway

Great shots. Also here is a pic of my pixie hawk from my old camera i thought it was pretty good for a fugi film. and how much are macro lenses and are they worth it? thanks

Omg i Love This Camera
Wow with my old camera i could never get a picture of my blue fin damsel that wasnt blurry . First photo with the new camera it was amazing. It was so worth the money. (i didnt pay lol) I just took these tonight and im so proud of them. Let me know how they look. It takes pics so fast theres no lag between when you press the button and when it actually takes the pic. |

Focus
To manual focus do as you did and turn the camera AND the lens to "M" Then simply turn the small ring at the end of the lens. That's it. Good luck with your new camera. I am sure you are gonna love it as much as the rest of us do!

Just had to comment here.
I decided on a D50 a couple months ago and said I would get it for a Xmas present for myself. Then my friend just got one and he was raving about how great it is and how great the shots are. But, I had the willpower to resist buying it early and waiting until Xmas. Then, as usual, I get on here and check the daily threads and BAM!, here's this thread about how wonderful the camera is and how everyone and their mom has one and how they love it so much. So, last night, I ordered mine from Wolf Camera on sale. You guys pushed me over the edge. It's all your fault! We should also add a D50 subforum here and have a secret handshake and have our own meetings and all.................. (I suck at resisting peer pressure) Thanks guys, now I will be able to take great photos too. |
