Instant Ocean Salt - PetSmart
This might be a good option to buy Instant Ocean salt for someone who is not located close to a LFS.
I get my I.O. salt from a local sponsor, since I've found the price to be the lowest available ($35.99/5g bucket). I've discovered that PetSmart offers that same price online and if you buy $60+, the shipping is free. So if you live outside the area, this might be a good way to stay supplied with salt. The catch would be that you'd have to purchase two buckets at a time, but maybe you could go in with a neighbor and split the order. ![]() P. S. ~ ~ I filled out an order all the way to *submit this order* to see if at some point shipping would be added, but it never was. Tax was added ($4.32) once I entered my shipping address, so it must be based on where you live. |

I usually just price math their online amount and go into the store. Neat about free shipping tho.

Yup, just print out the online thingy....make sure it says 160g tho. Goto checkout counter ask for a manager because you have a price match. And they will honor it. Been doing that for over 3 years now. Yeah some of the stores are hit and miss with the buckets. They usually stock them tho....but only a few.

I think the price matching is at the manager's discretion. The Marietta PetSmart has buckets, but only 1 or 2 at a time that I've ever seen. They also have some great deals on sand, if you can find some in stock.

I've been to many pets mart and all of them honor price matching. They will possibly not honor it if the model numbers are different. Aqua clear switched model numbers of their power heads once and I got into a huge debate with a manager. Other than that one time, I've never had an issue.

Kind of related...
i have an inside source at petco. their "store brand" salt mix is actually "instant ocean". it is boxed in a light blue box with petco's logo and such on the box. 55gallon size is $18. i guess i may actually buy something from there now. |
