As an alternative to a float valve, I put a garden hose timer inline before the input to my RO filter. Lowes and Home Depot sell them. Since I have a 35g rubbermaid with a 75gpd RO filter and only a 25g tank, I can dial the timer to 2 hours and fill the rubbermaid a bit more than 1/3 full. Before that, I had to rely on remembering to shut off the filter which resulted in more than a few wet garages found in the morning.

Cheap Digital timer
I thought I'd share a cheap solution to a digital timer.
Coralife sells this digital timer with alternating day and night outlets for $28. However, one can buy this digital timer from Target for $10. The only difference is this one does not have the night-time programmed outlets. Both have 4 outlets that are always on. |

Sedra Impellers (Euroreef and ASM skimmers):
www.customaquatic.com It was $29.99 + $6.65 shipping. Way less than the $49.99 + $8 shipping Euroreef wanted. They also had other brand skimmer parts. Ordered on 1/29 and got it on 2/2. |

Little bit more expensive than the place listed above for Sedra impellors and shafts, but they carried mine in stock and they ship super fast.

Try this website for really cheap and super easy DIY LED Moonlights. You dont really need to DIY it. You buy the LEDs in the fixture already done, all you have to do is connect two wires to the power plug adapter.
Ohh did I mention that everything is really cheap? http://autolumination.com/fixtures.htm |

Speaking of magnets, you can get ceramic magnets at Lowes for incredibly cheap.
It's in the nails and screws section. |

I don't think you would want an unsealed magnet in your tank. Cermaic magnets are usually made out of strontium carbonate and iron oxide. The later gives me great pause in an aquairum. The magnets I listed above are sealed in a rubber casing.

As far as I know (stress on that
), it's the same type of magnet inside most water pumps. |

Most water pump magnets are sealed inside a plastic casing at least the part that is on the prop. I haven't pulled a pump completely apart yet, but I would be suprised if they left a magnet exposed to salt water as it would likely corrode and leech iron into the water. Maybe there is some form of a magnet that doesn't have this problem, but I wouldn't recommend sticking a magnet in the tank unless I knew exactly what its compisition is. Most magnet mounts are encased in plastic or acrylic.
