Hey Jenn!
Ok Jenn since you are the Guro i have a few questions.
My Tank has had ich for 3 Solid Months. I Gave my LFS most of my Fish. I had left two Clowns from JJ Two snowflakes From Rit 1 Hippo tang i got from a member 1 Chromis 1 Niger trigger 1 YWG. So far 3 clowns Hit the Grave in The matter of hours in Qt. They formed a White pasty looking Film all over. Guessing Brooke? Not sure how it even got into my System. Next problem. My Hippo and Niger can be caught and Put in QT. My Chromis and YWG on the other hand id say are impossible to get out. But i am setting traps. I Plan to leave my tank Fishless for 2 Solid Months( If im able to catch the Two Last fish ). I left if Fishless for 4 weeks last time and they all came back with Ich. What other things can i do to Rid myself of all These Stupid Infections? If my Chromis and Goby show no signs of the disease do they still carry it around? I know if asked 100 times. Im just sick and tired of Trying to do the right thing and watch money be flushed down the Toilet

Kris, I feel your pain. I had a devil of a time catching my yellow choris wrasse. I ended up borrowing a trap that was made of plexiglass and shaped like a box. One side slides so you can open it. I had suction cups on the side so you could attach it to the tank walls.
Once in the tank, I left the door off for 24 hours but wold put just a little food at the oppisite end. All the other fish swam right in but the wrasse would only come up to the door and never in. For tow day I would use a turkey baster to ster the food up inside the trap. Just enoug to get his attention. He would wait outside and let small bits float out to him. Eventually, he got hungery enough to start sticking his nose in. Late on the second full day of this he put half his body in. I figured I would catch him or cut him in half but at the point I didn't care which. When I dropped the door it statled him and he darted forward (into the trap). The ironic thing is, he is the only fish that has survided and is still in my QT. Edit: Good lord. I really need to proof read before I hit post.

Kris I know you don't want to hear this but I would do my best to catch the last of your fish for QT and let things sit but I really believe I would be thinking along the lines of completely tearing down, scrubbing the tank with vinegar and fresh water and starting over again with new everything. One thing you can count on is the generosity of the people on this forum to help get you up and running again.

Did you have ich, Brooklynella or both? I'm unclear.
Brook can kill within hours, especially clowns. I do agree with getting ALL fish out, treating them all with a formalin based medicine and leaving the display fishless for 4-6 weeks. I've seen systems become reinfested when asymptomatic fish are untreated so yes I believe they can be carriers. I'd be tempted to start all over too. We've done that with our sell system from time to time over the years. It stinks to have to do it, but sometimes nothing else seems to work. I think the only way to never have fish disease of some sort or other, is to not have fish, period :-/ The best way to manage it is to QT all new arrivals, treat when indicated, and maintain good water quality and diet and minimize stress. Sometimes even when one does everything right, stuff happens. :( Jenn

To restart do I need to bleach all rock and sand?
Lost all clowns Jenn I think I have both. They got a white film and slim covered and 3 died in hours. One made it a day but was dead this morning

That's Brook. :(
I'm not a fan of bleaching rock (not with bleach anyway). I don't really know what to suggest. Fish suck sometimes. Jenn

Based on all I have heard from people much smarter than me, the best solution is to leave the tank fallow for the 6 weeks. That is so tough to do but I am trying my darnedest to do just that. I have one fish left and he is in QT. He has been medicated and seems to be doing well so I am pretty confidant he is not carrying anything.

Well I plan on two months from the day I catch the last guy
Is there any documentation that stats ich only last so long without a host and that the eggs die in a few weeks? I'd hate to leave it fish less only to start ich all over

There are plenty of references to the life cycle of ich.
There's a good article here: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2003/12/mini One on Brooklynella here: http://www.chucksaddiction.com/brookynella.html Both seem to concur about 28 days or so - I'd go a bit longer to be safe. Jenn

Kris, you say you gave most of your fish to your LFS and had what was listed left in the tank. What size tank and how many fish did you give to the LFS? I personally believe most systems have ich, but it's stress that causes it to rear it's ugly head. Too many fish in a small(er) tank would definitely stress the animals.

I agree tex, but with brook, the longer you leave them in the main display the worst off you are, sadly i had to move most of mine larger fish to individual 20 gallons to be treated. I know its not ideal but i was losing 3 to 4 fish a day just by leaving in the a 250 display so it was worth the gamble. The right approach is have a qt fit for your size display.

I hope the recipients of the given away fish quarantined/treated them first... fish can carry it and transmit it.
It's not like ich that can be "managed" - once it sets in, it can be over very quickly, as you've seen. I've never seen it just go away. Jenn
