Are you looking at the Discovery II? I have a 98 DI that has been a champ for me. If you are looking for something that is fuel efficient, look elsewhere. How mechanically inclined are you? The reason I ask is that the stealerships charge an arm and a leg to fix them and if you can do the work yourself, you can put that money back into your tank! Either way, check this website out:

Spends more time in the shop than out. They were a gold mine for me when I was in the automotive industry.

It's really hit or miss, though the newer models are more hit than miss. My dad and I had the exact same one. Mine cost me thousands before I finally dumped it, he still drives his to this day. It's a 2001.
Important to note Disco vs. Range as well... |

We have a 2002 Discovery 2 series. In the past year we have had to do the following:
New Radiator New window motor Oil leak Replace Radio ABS lights just came on and passanger powerseats won't move. Everytime we replace the fuse, it pops instantly. Don't know how they have imporved in the years after.

Landon, This link will help you diagnose your ABS light issue.
http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showt...light=ABS+Code The passenger seat sounds like a bad ground or a bare wire is grounding out on some metal. |
