For the folks who don't know (like me) - what particulars are involved in keeping clams? Depth of sandbed? Light levels? Tank Size? Food? Pros on having a clam in a tank? Any information would be nice - been thinking about getting one.

And I assume that the pictures are shown in order of the list that is below them with prices on the first message?

I will keep you informed.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Does anyone know where I can find really good and simple information about taking care of clams?

I've been thinking about them... although I'm probably not in that game yet.

I know sometime ago (18-30 months ago) Ray did a great presentation about keeping clams. The meeting was held at CBA and he gave out his notes to all that wanted them.

His info detailed how to keep them, feed them, lighting requirements, ...

Do we have a copy of this presentation?

James Fatheree's Clam book, as well as the Giant Clam book by Daniel Knopp are both great, and the section of the invertebrate book that Anthony Calfo and Bob Fenner published has one really good chapter on clams in general.

I believe that James will be at MACNA in ATL this year talking about Tridacnid clams as well.

Has there been a decision about where and when for the December meeting yet?

There is only 7 days left to order these clams for the powerbuy.

I talked to my supplier and I can not get the Squamosa Clam through them. The others are waiting for their new owners though... :)

Let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks,

Tim

I saw a clam today @ CapBay that I really liked. Problem is, I've no idea what kind it was. It wasn't large, but it was $100 ... instead of the usual electric blue, it was lavender, cream, mauve, pink & gray. I wish I'd taken a picture. If you have one like that, I'd definitely order.

I have recieved the Crocea that everyone ordered, I have some that are a great green color and some that are blue in color. Everyone that ordered the crocea clams contact me for pick up or let me know if you want to wait till the meeting.

The Maxima shippment from the collecter to the wholesaler apparently got held up in customs and we not doing to good after the delay, my supplier told me the next shipment will either be 14th or 17th. So I will have these in by the Dec. Meeting.

There is still time to order a few more clams if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

Tim
