View Full Version : Dive trip anyone?
washowi 10-25-2007, 12:31 PM Sneaking back in for a moment.
Anyway. Planning on trying to do a dive trip to the North Carolina wrecks. Thinking about the doing the U352, the Papoose, maybe the Queen Anne's Revenge if I can swing that.
Looking for at least 6 to fill a boat. Its off season I can't get a boat to take me out alone.
Interest? email me. No dates set yet but I want to go soon, before winter set in on the coast. Water is great right now.

Corigan 10-25-2007, 12:41 PM This is the best month to go too! October is prime for the graveyard of the Atlantic. I wish I could go, but just booked a trip down to St. Thomas with my wife for our anniversary and am tight on cash. Maybe next time. I love diving the u352 and the papoose. I have never dove the QAR as I didn't feel like paying the outrageous fees for the tour. They even give you underwater MP3 players I hear for that dive.
Kevin 10-25-2007, 12:45 PM I would love to go... all depends on timing. PM'd
Corigan 10-25-2007, 12:55 PM Brrrrrr..... :)LOL, come on Mojo, you aren't a WWW (Warm Water Whuss) are you? :)
LOL, I always respected the WWW's, they aren't crazy like us cold water wetsuit divers.. :D

If the water temp is below 78 degrees, I don't even put on my bathing suit! :)
I prefer warmer (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1402) waters (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7828)...:sail:
Stroid 10-25-2007, 1:08 PM Chris those are awesome pics! I wish I could afford this but considering I am a rookie and still need to take my open water dive test ill have to wait on this. I did take the written and pool portion though!

washowi 10-25-2007, 1:14 PM I am doing work there and meeting people with boats..So maybe it will be a rouge boat not associated with a store....just gathering interest. QAR will be next spring for sure.
It will be a weekend.. but I was there yesterday and the water is perfect

Thanks very much! I enjoy it, but can't seem to find enough time to take those big trips...
Corigan 10-25-2007, 1:25 PM Awesome pics Chris, I am jealous of both your dives, and your photography equipment. :D
Here is also another great shop up there. Discovery and Olympus are both first class as well.

Coming from the man who wore 2 wetsuits at grays reef
Stroid 10-25-2007, 5:25 PM Randomly my sister asked me today about taking the test and we decided to go Nov 17-18 to do the test at a florida spring (blue groto or rainbow river). So when is this trip gonna take place? And is this to advanced of a dive for a rookie? I get the feeling it is...
washowi 10-25-2007, 6:07 PM These are 100+ foot dives, I would not recommend new or beginners. But there is no dive police.
Currents and depth, you need to be comfortable with that,

Xyzpdq0121 10-26-2007, 2:25 PM Todd, When are you thinking and how much $$$$ you thinking. I am on a VERY tight budget right now but I would love a weekend trip.
washowi 10-26-2007, 2:47 PM The dive is $115 for a 2 tank.....So figure times 2 for 4 dives..Thats a long way to go for just 2 hours under water.
You can drive to Morehead, but Its a pain and not fun....Closest airport is Jacksonville, NC or you can do Raleigh and drive 2 hrs.
The QAR is a $500 dive but we cant do it till next June....Its a closed site for research.
Si I figure if ya have Delta miles (like me) car, hotel (shared) $600 should cover it....? Rough guess...
Would like to do it sometime in November.
