 I went by there Sunday, and they did an awesome job of upgrading their saltwater area! They now have a ton of corals, fish, clams, seahares, snails, shrimp, etc. I was very impressed! Service was awesome as usual. Love them!

I went there last week and have to say the store is looking better. The owner was there so I was actually greeted and helped, which was nice for a change.

I used to frequent Avaiarium due to proximity. Over the last six months, their Marine area has improved dramatically. They just got a shipment of fairly uncommon fish - rainsford gobies, various anthias, Vlamingi tang, Unicorn tang, etc.

Their coral selection and pricing is still just OK IMO, but improving...

Any Under the Wave customers should recognize most of the new fixtures, as that was their previous home. I'm glad to see that store stepping up. They needed upgrades about 10 years ago.

I went there today, and they have really stocked up. Coral selection is actually really good! They also have a great assortment of fish & inverts. I was picking up some parrot food, so I wasn't prepared to get anything live, but I wanted some of their skunk cleaner shrimp & some more peppermint shrimp. next time.

I went into Avarium yesterday to get some sand, and I was blown away- they've done a great job of upgrading their equipment, and had some awesome fish in there, in terms of uniqueness, health, and price!

Two thumbs up!

Is it just me? I find that their thank are DIRTY and I know for sure I am not going to buy any corals from them.
I was just there and I can tell you I was in SHOCK!!!!! to see how dirty all their salt water tank was. All but the Invert tank.

their tank can not get that bad in a months or so, but evenone here keeping saying they are great...

If that the way the club want to headed then I am going to leave.

i never said you have to lie. if you have something negative do not post it, just give advice (ie. watch the fish for a couple of days) do not say they are great if they are not just do not post it.

i have had a bad exp with some store but i do not post it, only time i tell someone is if they ask me which only 1 person has done.

I was there on Thursday. The water was crystal clear, algae free, and all the fish looked very healthy, by any measurement. I rarely comment on store tanks one way or another, but their tanks were exceptional.

Maybe they were cleaning or something else was going on. There's no cover up here....

Are you sure you went to the right store? The one near Hooters over off of Pleasant Hill?

WOLFIE
01-26-2008, 5:29 PM
yes I were there this morning.
You did not see all the cryno in their corals tank and did not see all that green stuff in their fish tank?

The cryno are all over that corals tank and even on some of the corals. I did not take a look of their big tank, but I did look at their smaller tank. the green stuff corver half of their sand.

the way I see if. If you one does not say anything then one are lieing to the whole club.

From reading the above post it look like a good store. I drove 30 minute there and only to find out it was all lie.

I am going to wait till Brandon and Cameron drop by that place and post their what they saw.

Their water was crystal clear, and their sand had some cyno on it (so what?). Their corals, fish, & inverts all looked great & healthy.

So... the reviews of the other six of us were all lies? Wow...

I didn't really look at the coral tank - only a quick glance to see that there was LPS and softies, which I wasn't terribly interested in. There could have been cyano in their coral tank, but it wasn't enough to comment about.

Oh well, I guess when Cameron or Brandon can give official word, we can all know the truth...

Just a question. Why do some people whine & threaten that they are "going to leave the club"? Like I could give a rat's *** anyhow. If I would leave, I would just leave, ya know?

it is because they would like their friends to know or they are just attention hungry(no offense to anyone), or etc.

Frankly if you all think that was a clean store then I really hated to see the store that you call dirty.

As for as Cameron go. I only spoke to him 1 time, but I know will tell it like it is and not worry about losing a sponsor or not.

Mysterbox. I am whine nor threading anything.
Why does anyone want to be in anything if they can not speak their mind?

not on a sponsor forum! I am no one to criticize someone speaking their mind! I write very "animated" actually and come across exaggerated, but That is my writing style! However, I am sending you a pm.

a little critcize does not hurt anyone. If people does not tell the true then the store will never know what going on. Maybe if they read this they will look into their tank and make it better.

Ok, Now that I have "chilled" a bit...a not so quick story..

Called twice in the morning Sunday to get a price on their Seahorses. I was told $19.95 by an employee. Called back and asked what kind...Even on the phone I can see him shrugging his sholders and saying Uhhhhh I dont know.. lol I confirmed price again..

90 minutes later in the car with wife and youngest we get to the store..

Looked around, found the seahorses with a sign $29.95

Found a redheaded guy and asked for help..I questioned the price and he said Nope their 29.95. I told him I called twice earlier and I was told 19.95. He asked the employee and the employee aknowledged the 19.95. The guy said sorry their 29.95. I said I called drove 90 minutes and thats it?? He said "thats too bad their 29.95" I told him he was a sponsor of ours and this is how he treats his customers. "thats just how it is" he said...

I followed him to the register and I asked who the manager was, he then says he's the owner...and he treats HIS customers that way!!...I was floored!! I was so lucky to have my wife and kid with me...

A second later a blonde woman asked what was wrong and he said "Nick", I think was his name, gave me a price of 19.95 and their $29.95...she immediately said if Nick said 19.95 then sell them for 19.95.

So after 3 ponies, brine shrimp, parrot toys and food and some 100.00 plus dollars and he would NOT accept my ARC 10% I was outta there...

Never again...First and last time Ill ever shop there...Theres just too many "Good" stores that take care of their customers...I wont even gove the satisfaction of giving you store conditions...Too many bad things to even mention anything good..

Have a great Monday All

Dont NOT go there because of me...The guy totally got his panties in a bunch because HIS employee screwed up...But theres NO reason to ever take that out on a customer...NONE. I just wont ever visit it again..Everyone needs to make their own conclusions...I suppose he figured I got the horses for less so why give me more...NOT the right reason as far as Im concerned...So, for me, they are done.

I saw plus sides of the store...I would have enjoyed giving them my business but theres NO WAY I could do that now. If they went out of business tomorrow Id probably smile and say they deserved it...

So after 3 ponies, brine shrimp, parrot toys and food and some 100.00 plus dollars and he would NOT accept my ARC 10% I was outta there...I don't think the ARC discount applies to parrot toys and food (unless it is fish food). Also, I see your point about the $19.95 and he should have honored the price the employee gave you right off but after cutting the price 30 percent or so I don't think denying a discount on top of that is unreasonable. That is me though... I can see the other side of it.

The 10% was the least of it Cameron..It's not about the money at all, if it is we shouldnt be in this hobby for sure. But when your belittled and told "oh well too bad" that was the end for me. I fought for the principal and the 90 minute drive I made. I am the FIRST to spend more at a store for great service...it's just worth it to me. To know you spend a few dollars more but when you leave you FEEL GOOD is worth it...again, this is just ME.

Point blank...they sucked! OK I said it :)

On another note...The corals and fish looked good and healthy. Shelves were cleaned and stocked. Bird side also looked good. Put all those things together with crappy service and you get crap. Period

my opinion only...I hope they read this and fix it.

I can see your side of it especially on the phone quote versus actually showing up. That is probably the one that would have gotten me, but it sounds like whoever the lady was tried to make it right. I can understand your frustration level at that point though.

first of all, that guy is not the owner. The owner is Tom. He wasnt there that day. The red headed guy is who u dealt with, and, unfortunately he's not the nicest guy.
I can see why u are frustrated with that idiot, but they made it right. I don't stop going to best buy, macys, target, or my favorite dining esablishments based on 1 thing that got fixed that was a misunderstanding. But everyone handles things differently, I guess.

I stand corrected. Here I "assumed" that Tom was the owner all this time, (did I say like 15 years?), but he's not. He acts like the owner! He's freakin' awesome, and he is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
I found out today when I went in to get some parrot food, so I just asked em. Nope, not the owner, just act like one. He's worked ther like 25 years (they moved 4 or so times before)!

Anyway, The fish tanks looked awesome, the selection is just crazy amazing, and yes, one of the coral tanks had a bunch of cyno in it. Other than that, I wish I had room for more fish & inverts. Sharks, gobi, cool looking scorpion fish, tangs, various, shrimp, snails, at least 4 kinds of stars, etc.

Ok, I got to say I took a stop in myself the other day (Tuesday). No one knew I was the ARC President (It had been so long since I was in there last). I was greeted right away. They were slow with only about Two other customers in the store but I was asked about twice if there was anything that I needed but not hounded to buy something or followed around. The tanks did have some slime algae but nothing to major and nothing worse then most other places. The new layout is MUCH better then the old one. The fish are still ok price but more importantly, I did not see any dead fish on very few if any signs of sick fish. The coral tanks are a BIG improvement over the old ones. None of the coral prices were really listed so I can not compare price. A lot of the same corals (Hammers, Fragspawns, shrooms, and scroll coral) but what they had looked pretty healthy. All in all, it gave me hope for this store. I would stop back in at a different time when they have more stock. I was told that they had been cleaned out and they were getting a new shipment that next day. It earns an A+ for the improvements that they have done over the old saltwater department and a Solid B rating from me for this past visit. Defiantly some place that I would give another chance too sooner rather then later!

I stopped in yesterday and WOW... this is a really nice store. Like most LFS some stuff was pricey, but other items were a good deal. The store was clean, the selection was good and staff was friendly. Not sure what else you can ask out of an LFS. I have no real point of reference on the Aviarium as this was my first trip there, but I see no reason not to stop in and check out the store. I was on my bike so buying anything was out of the question, but I could see myself buying from this store in the future.
