blind1993 10-16-2007, 5:45 PM nice. tell me when you are ready frag that baby. (there is a nice video on how to frag it) and i might want a head also.
jessezm 10-16-2007, 6:20 PM Whoa. Did they live near a toxic waste dump or anything?
georgiasunflower 10-16-2007, 6:29 PM Looks Great! I have three but they are pink with green tips. I love them because they are so easy to care for and grow so quickly. Enjoy! Your's looks beautiful!
RaisingTwo2006 10-16-2007, 6:37 PM lol.. Hopefully, these guys will have a couple frags in two weeks or so.
Ours is pink now with green tips.. it was kinda freaked out I think when we first brought him home. The display at the store was HUGE!! it had to have at least 50-60 heads on it and they had two clowns that swam in and out of them.. Dennis thought is was so cool, that he Had to have some too.
NavyReefer 10-16-2007, 6:51 PM Looks more like a frogspawn than Hammer to me. But I am usually wrong :)

No. Looks that way to me also:up:
Stroid 10-16-2007, 7:12 PM definitly a frogspawn not a hammer
RaisingTwo2006 10-16-2007, 7:45 PM You know.. I didn't think it looked very 'hammer' like either, but that's what they told us it was at the LFS..
DannyBradley 10-16-2007, 8:17 PM Euphyllia is too confusing for common names sometimes. I had a hammer/frogspawn crossover. It had both polyp types present. Classify THAT! I'd say a frog hammer, but that might already be something manufactured in Alabama.

someone told me those are called *frammers* .. like a hybrid rosebush
jeep9783 10-16-2007, 9:02 PM looks like a tourch coral to me
jeep9783 10-16-2007, 9:02 PM j/k before someone takes that seriously
Stroid 10-16-2007, 9:10 PM the color is similar to a torch i agree but it is a frogspawn. Danny how does that look like a hybrid? the color is off but the way it extends even the shape at the bottom is that of a frogspawn
DannyBradley 10-16-2007, 9:25 PM I was providing it as an example to illustrate the problem with classifying Euphyllia and how it can lead one to mislabel a specimen. I agree it's a frogspawn.
Stroid 10-16-2007, 9:26 PM i do see a few polyps that look curved like a hammer but not enough to say hybrid possibly a better picture with more color detail would help identify..either way nice looking coral
DannyBradley 10-16-2007, 9:31 PM In fact...
Common names: Hammer Coral, Anchor Coral, Grape Coral, Frogspawn Coral, Octopus Coral, Torch Coral, Branching Hammer Coral, Branching Anchor Coral, Pop-Pom Coral, Branching Frogspawn Coral.
That describe: E. ancora, E. cristata, E. divisa, E. glabrescens, E. paradivisa, E. parancora
Now try to find a picture online that matches just one of those names.
georgiasunflower 10-16-2007, 10:35 PM Looks more like a frogspawn than Hammer to me. But I am usually wrong :)
I thought it was a hammer that was startled. Mine looks like that sometimes in the morning before the lights come on or when someone swims by too closely... I guess Kimberly would know best if the "hammers" ever come out or not?
NavyReefer 10-16-2007, 10:39 PM Ok Danny, you just took the post to a whole new level, I hope you looked that up or I will just feel even less educated than I did 2 min ago.
As far as the color, "Frog Spawn" come in 2 different combinations. Pink with green tips and green with pink tips. Pink with green tips being the less common variety. I am sure most of you knew that but there may have been some that didn't!
DannyBradley 10-16-2007, 10:44 PM Navy- I knew most of that, but I always research my posts to be as precise as I can be.
not a hammer but nice frag, check this guys frag out.

NavyReefer 10-16-2007, 11:59 PM Good lord that thing is giant, looks like something from the Georgia Aquarium.
Speaking of the Georgia Aquarium....Did anyone else find the Reef Section to be a let down? I am not sure if I went in expecting to much but I have seen better Reef systems in peoples living rooms (not the size but a better presentation and more variety).
RaisingTwo2006 10-17-2007, 1:10 PM I haven't been in a while.. since Feb... but I thought it was a tad bit on the small size back then...
On another note-- I found ANOTHER new head of my froghammer :) growing this morning.. That makes 4 on a 2headed beast since last Saturday.
Bleedingthought 10-17-2007, 1:25 PM I'm pretty sure it's an acropora sp.
