Hey all,

Just joined the forums and ARC webpages today because I am looking to become a member of a group where I can swap ideas, info, stock, and equipment with other enthusiasts.

I am first off looking for advice for a beginner - here is my situation at current.

I got a 55 Gal that has been setup for about three months. Then one day, it starts leaking, and I have to presume that is a crack or a broken seal on the bottom sheet of glass, since that is where the water is coming out.

I can get a 120 gal drilled tankfor free - if I go pick it up - but I would need a new stand. So I am looking for either a new or used 48x24 stand. Also, I am not sure how much equipment I have that is going to need replacing due to the tank size upgrade. I can also get approx. 200 lbs of what was once live rock - it was completely cleaned in boiling water before going into storage, so it is now base rock. and about 100 pounds of sand treated in the same way.

I have a set of power compacts (2 actinic, 2 full) for the 55 gal, and I am trying to step into things as cheaply as possible, so I was planning on using those until it became convienient to upgrade to halides. I have a protein skimmer that the box says can handle 65 gals, and a sump that can handle approx 75 gals, according to packaging.

I was thinking about running a second sump tank and use it as an algae farm and then daily scrape the algae out of it and use it for filtration as well to accomodate for the additional tank size.

What else do I need to know?

Any advice/knowledge/experience/help you can offer would be much appreciated. Also, if you know of a place/person who might have a 120 gal stand for sale, let me know.

Thanks
Michael
