My tank is being over run with BT's....I started with one about a year and a half ago and from that one came over 20.....I've sold a few of them over the past year and they are building their numbers for another takeover attempt....

My only requirement is that the new home has MH's for lighting as these guys don't do well under PC's....

$20.00 each and I'll throw in some mushroom, zenia, and striped shroom frags....

will T5 be enough?

I actually have mine under T5's, and it's doing great. I haven't done any direct feeding and it's on the bottom of a 30" tall tank. I am overdriving the bulbs with an IC660 ballast, though, and have them on individual reflectors.

You would probably be fine with an anemone at the top of your tank with those lights.

Hi ya'll
how about a little help for Newbie please... :huh:Can someone explain the difference between MH and PC lights? I am just starting a reef tank - well it will be lol. Right now all I have is live sand, a bunch of snails, and a lone clownfish. (my son's 2 chocolate chip starfish are visiting) I am looking for live rock, coral, and an anemone but need to find a deal. ANYWAY before I do I need to make sure I have the right lights. I have 48" Coral Sun Actinic 420, 36 Watts. (hope that makes sense?) They are the same (I think) as my son and his coral and anemone are THRIVING. Any help is Greatly appreciate!

those things look great.... i'm gonna be working in kathleen starting monday at the urgent care center at lake joy... could i come buy and check out your tank and maybe pick one up??

georgiasunflower - MH are metal halide bulbs, PC are power compact bulbs.

metal halides produce a tremendous amount of light compared to power compacts.

jessezm
08-24-2007, 5:37 PM
And I would add that there are very few anemones that will truly thrive under PC lights. Mostly the pesky kind... but definitely not a BTA.

MapleRedTA--I don't direct feed, and my stupid clowns don't host, but I do see it catch extra food from the normal feedings from time to time, and I feed enriched P.E. mysis, so it packs a good punch.

Dakota9
08-29-2007, 1:41 PM
And I think its a matter of having enough PC light.... In conjuction with the depth of your tank..

On a personal note Linda, the head of your blenny seems to be doing well, as that is the only part I've seen. It snagged a few pieces of brine that floated past it, but did not venture from it's hole. I'm concerned that he will need to go home in the 4+ pound of live rock he calls home sweet home......

If that is the case, could you bring me a 4 pound piece of live rock for trade when you come to retrieve him? LOL

Fester
08-29-2007, 1:44 PM
There are a couple of folks that have PC lighting close to me that, so far, have success with these little guys.....YMMV.....they have been under MH's in my tank and I really don't know how well they will do under PC's....

FutureInterest
08-29-2007, 1:47 PM
BTAs are the only anemones I would ever keep under PCs even then the PCs need to be fairly strong and you must supplemental feed often :). I kept my RBTAs under PCs for many many moons and they prospered, but they didn't fully color up and look as healthy as they are now under t5s.

I'll gladly make the trip, I'm free tomorrow until around 4pm, and then have some free time on Sunday aswell. I've posted in this thread but have gotten very little response, but several PMs.

How many are left?

Who in the metro area wants one?

Does the seller accept Paypal (for those that want one, you could pay me via paypal and I could pay the seller at time of pick up)

before we go any further, lets wait and hear from the seller, as I dont think he has as many BTAs left as people wanting to purchase them. We'll also need to see if our schedules coincide. Maplereda PM'ed and wrote that they seller may be out of town for the weekend..

Oh, and Brian, what does a person have to do to get an invite to your place to see the Solaris in action?

bzwaagstra
08-31-2007, 2:24 PM
You don't want to see the Solaris in action. Because if you do ... well ... you'll be selling the kids to pay for one. I got it just over a week ago and have only slept with my arms around it twice. I am thinking about writing a full review and taking some video.

Dakota9
08-31-2007, 2:29 PM
Yes, for the price they cost, I'm certain they should get 40mpg on the highway, 28 mph in the city.

But you're not getting out of it that easily, I still want to see it. I nominate you to be on the next tour of tanks!

Anyone second that?

OK guy, theres more people wanting them than there are anemones to purchase. I had to go with the people I could contact for pick up tonight. Sorry, you may have been the first to respond on this thread, but had to coordinate with the other buyers to pick up from my house this evening when I return with the BTAs. I went with the first 3 people that said they'd be at my house this evening for pick up

All BTAs are spoken for.
