Went to check out Blue Planet today after work.
They had some pom pom crabs and I really wanted some so I made the drive.
From work, in traffic it took me about an hour or so. From home it would be a long morning.
Here are my observations. The space is small but the space is set up in such a way that the small doesn't make you feel claustrophobic.
You walk into the store past an impressive display of bamboo sharks and another shark I did not recognize. There was also a fish that was looking kinda nervous.
There is a good selection of tanks at what I thought to be good prices. I would say that there was a tank I wanted to buy on the spot but then I'd have to listen about addiction and interventions again so because of all of you here I didn't buy the tank although I turned around on 75....twice.
Nice big stock of supplies which were well organized.
The selction of fish for the size of the store is nice. A few to many duplicates in certain species but still nice. I will add a caveat here...although there are many duplicates, they are of many different sizes from small to EXTRA EXTRA large. One puffer was about the size of a nerf football and a grouper that is almost trophy size. A very cool (and big) remora and gigantic eels. I think my favorite was the killer bright yellow and pink angler fish.
Plenty of inverts and although the selection of corals was on the small side it was nice stuff.
One thing I noticed the store did not have the typical fish store smell. Everything was clean and tidy. Prices were not out of line for an LFS.
Only negative I saw was 1 fish on its side which did not appear unhealthy but chased to near death.
This store is like a nano store but great things come in small packages.
At this point I would rate this as my favorite store and experience. If I were ever to delve into a LFS as a living I would do it just like this!
