09-26-2007, 9:09 PM
Holy crap! Have you made these before? Thats an awsome job! Better than the pro's!

09-26-2007, 10:10 PM
How did you flare the piece out attaching the collection cup to the main chamber? That is absolutely incredible. I might have to trade you some frags in exchange for you cutting a few pieces with that CNC router!

09-26-2007, 10:17 PM
WOW awesome job man!

09-26-2007, 11:23 PM
I did the flare with a heat gun. When I was younger I used to be real big into custom car stereo and my boss would never buy me a acrylic bender he always made me form the acrylic by using a heat gun. So I used what he tought me and made it. It take alot of time you have to go slow and steady because if you hold the gun in one spot to long it will bubble and the piece is messed up.

09-27-2007, 1:07 AM
Ok I am defiantly going to have to set up a time to come over if nothing else just to learn from you. That looks absolutely amazing. Haha would you be willing to trade your knowledge for a few frags?

09-27-2007, 1:11 AM
Come by some time Dawg . I will let you know when I am going to be home. I have to leave tomorrow to go out of town but pm me your contact info.

09-27-2007, 1:55 AM
That is incredible! I need to learn to do stuff like that. My stuff is always so ghetto!

09-27-2007, 2:15 AM
It take time and alot of pratice trust me the first stuff I buil look like crap

Roland Jacques
09-27-2007, 5:18 PM
Great job,

That tapered transition with a heat gun is awesome. I never thought it could be done with a heat gun. I was going to try that in the oven but my peice did not fit in the oven. Glad to see it can be done. Im going to have to try that. i have a feeling it not going to be easy.

I got a few questions if you don't mind.
What size holes did you go with on your bubble diffuser?
It looks like you going to step down the neck at the cup. ( from? 8"? to 6"? ) is that right or is that just the photo?

09-27-2007, 5:47 PM
your right , it will stepp down from 8" to 6" inside the cup. as far as the diffuser plate they are 1/4" holes.
When heasting the acrylic with a heat gun take your time but keep the heat gun moving around the piece or it will bubble and the piece is trash.

09-27-2007, 5:53 PM
Here are the last pics I will be able to post for the next week. I have to go out of town for work. Which realy sucks cause I am so close to being done.
Here is the diffuser plate gkued and mounted . You can see 4 little screws . That way I can take the top plate off and clean the inside.
<a href="" target="_blank"><img src="" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>
Here is the riser cone all glued up with the key holes cut out

09-27-2007, 5:57 PM
Lets try and post the diffuser plat pic again. you can also see the uniseal has been installed and the inside hole drilled for the 1 1/2 pipe to go through.

looks good.

How do you keep the flat section, flat while your heating and bending the taper? do you sandwich it between 2 cut pieces of wood of something

FWIW The step down kind of confuses me. I understand why you want a smaller ID neck = dryer foam... It just seems to me that the step down (without a taper) is a bubble trap. I think it will cause Big Bubble Burps. Its not a big deal, but the burps may just make your skimmate wetter. What do you think?

09-28-2007, 12:45 AM
kool keyholes looking good, when are you going to be done with this thing

09-28-2007, 12:46 AM
Well its all glued up just waiting on me to get back home so I can water test it and plumb it in line . Should be inline in about a week

09-28-2007, 1:19 AM
I understand what your talking about the reduction, I dont see any big deal. If it does have a bubble burp it wont be to often to make that big of a deal , it wont be like a burp every few seconds.

09-29-2007, 8:38 PM
wow, nice skillzzzzz man! That's one bad *** skimmer!

09-29-2007, 11:03 PM
Wow you have some real skills, If you are ever up to bulding a cal. reactor let me know a price.

10-04-2007, 10:35 PM
Well I just got back back from work. Its been along week. Well It is time for the test run. It seems like it going to kick A**. Here are some pic of it running with fresh salt water.

10-05-2007, 1:20 PM

Nothing special, I was entertaining the thought of using the BM pumps on a recirculating skimmer body after I my BK's comein.... nothing right away, maybe early next year, will you be up for it?

10-05-2007, 1:42 PM

how it doing so far?

10-09-2007, 4:36 PM
so far it is rockin

10-09-2007, 9:33 PM
Nice videos. That skimmer can pull some serious air! Sweet job!

Roland Jacques
10-09-2007, 10:15 PM
Cool, I was concerned that your scum line would drop below the 8" to 6" step and collect higher amounts of scum under that lip. Gald to see that does not look like a problem. Keep on rockin

10-09-2007, 10:29 PM
Tahnk you very much

there doesnt seem to be and issues with the 8 to 6

10-18-2007, 11:11 PM
Well, well, well. New travels fast! A bird told me about this thing al the way over in Mississippi. My only question is; what are you waiting on! Must someone drop a brick on your head!!!LOL

It looks OK - I guess?? Would you like me to explain it further??

10-19-2007, 9:47 AM
James I thought I told you about it . Sorry

You did awhile back,I just didnt realize you were this far along with it.Looks good man! How did it perform with out adding air to it?

10-19-2007, 9:50 AM
adding air are you talking about an air pump like spazz uses. If that the case it works great with out using an air pump. Thats why you realy can not go much taller with out adding an air pump.

Didnt realize you were not using an air pump. I got that Impression from post #62 where you were talking about injecting air into the skimmer(I was thinking ALITA or something).I guess you meant just turning the valve to inject air into the sequence pump.Has it been working as you expected?

Im hoping Brett will build his so I can buy it from him.

01-17-2008, 12:50 AM
hey man i am wating for the updates
