When I first signed up to this site, I saw a post called Pay it Forward. One of our members, Bill Boots (wmboots) said that when he got in this hobby it was all about sharing frags. It wasn’t about buying and selling. So, he offered to help out someone who was just getting started. I took him up on that and he gave me some very nice stuff.

Over the past couple of months, Bill has gone through a ton of problems and the net result is that he lost most everything. He is now in the process of setting up his 150 and starting from scratch. I want to see Arc come together and help out a wonderful member. I have already told him he can have anything in my tank. Well, except maybe my scoly, clam and nems. J Anything else he wants he is welcome to cut a frag. I would like to invite all of you to offer something up to help Bill get his tank back the way he wants it.

Please post here if you have anything you can hook him up with when he is ready.

Thanks,
Rich

WOW thanks so much first off to Rich for the kind post and words, and to all of those of you reaching out to help.
I've never been one to post pics or brag about his tank but I will say the 90 gallon that crashed was a very nice if not gorgeous reef that had been growing for 5 years.

I will be putting water in tomorrow along with aquascaping as best I can with 50lbs of Marco rock and somewhere around 100lbs of rock I took out of the 90.
The new setup consists of a custom 150 (72x20x24), 40 gallon sump with refugium chamber, skimmer chamber and return pump in center, Reef Octopus NW200 skimmer, mag 12 return pump, closed loop system with little giant pump and when I finish retrofitting the canopy it will run 8 - 54 watt T5 lamps.

Again thanks so much for your responses and I will send you PM's to setup get togethers and just be sure that as I have done in the past. As corals get to size to frag I will be Paying it Forward to help anyone wanting to get a start, who has had a system crash or they just would like a frag of something I have in my tank.

water is in tank but because I can't use any of the water that was in the 55 gallon tank I was using to keep everything in I'm 30 gallons short. Filtering more water but that will take approximately 6-8 hours. Also I can expect a mini cycle so I will wait a couple weeks before put anything more in.
It appears a couple colonies of neon green paly's may have survived but that and 2 clown fish are the lone survivors

So sorry to hear about the crash its never a good thing mine crashed last year and I lost so many expensive corals and fish. I'm finally getting back to a good point. With everything as said before I don't have much that's fraggable but your welcome to anything I got in my tank free once it gets to a point it can be fragged

I have been following your thread and you certainly have been going thru your share of problems too.

Been taking pics with the android phone will put a couple up, started close loop to create some flow in tank while I wait for the additional 30 gallons of water to filter. Having done so I have found the first change I will be making to the system. Little giant pump is a bit noisy and sure puts out the heat. I will building a dog house or something and moving the pump outside.

Hey Bill, now that I have a little more room in my tank, I moved the frags I have been keeping for you to the front of the tank. Here is a pic. The stag on the right broke off of the one you gave me and seems to be doing ok but I have a much nicer piece up on the rocks that is yours when you are ready.

Rich the pieces I picked up from you last weekend are doing great for the most part.
The largest piece of blue tip is doing good but the 2 smaller frags didn't make it. I believe I put them in area that wasn't receiving enough lite.
The zoas, chalice and hammer are doing fantastic but I'm not sure what is happening with the other acro frag. It looks like it is just algae but when I pull it out it looks alive so I brushed it off but still looks like algae in the tank so it is wait and see at this time.
The piece you gave me that was semi round and had a few eyes that appeared to be alive, well those eyes are deffinetly alive and thriving. The mushroom leather I don't believe is going to make it but I'm giving it a chance, I had my concerns with how small the frag was and that we just cut it and put it in the bag.

So far those are the only pieces I've picked up and put in the tank but they are doing well so I believe even with the mini cycle the system is going thru I am safe to add more to the tank.

I have been following your thread and you certainly have been going thru your share of problems too.

No clue where I got it from, but I will be much more careful from now on. Anything I introduce to the tank with get their plug blasted with H2O2 first, among other things.

I am now 99.999999999 algae free, so I'm goid to go.

Glad to there the bulk of it is doing well. How about the birdsnest and candy cane? I was very surprised how well the remaining candy cane bounced back after cutting. The leather is doing well too. I suspect that by the time I get ready to set up the 125 it would be healed enough that I could get a better cutting off of it. It was just so hard to get to in it's current location. Also, I can cut another piece of the blue tip off of the big one if you want. There is a piece growing off the back side that I think would do great for you.

wmboots
04-09-2012, 6:50 AM
forgot about birdsnest and candy cane, they both are doing fantastic. the candy cane frags were in 2 pieces so I placed them in different locations in the tank and it's amazing the color variation. the single head is much darker green but both frags are eating and growing. the birdsnest is doing quite well as well and I expect this piece to grow rather quickly where I have it placed in the tank

rdnelson99
04-09-2012, 7:01 AM
Glad to hear it. :-) I love both of those. When I got the green candy cane I didn't really think I would like it so much but now, I love it. It has grown like a weed in my tank. If I remember correctly, it was 3 heads when I got it. Even after cutting those for you it still has about 5 heads on it.

Jason (redstang) and eagle9252 thank you for the awsome frags the 2 of you gave me yesterday. I will try to post pics of their growth.
Now my tank doesn't look completely barren it is amazing how much bigger 150 gallons (72x20x24) is than 90 gallons (48x18x24) is

rdnelson99
05-07-2012, 7:11 AM
I know the feeling Bill. I had several frags sitting on the sand bed in my old tank. When I moved everything to the new tank I set them on the sand until I could figure out where I wanted them. Last night I moved most on to the rocks and it looks sooooooo barren. LOL But, it is only a matter of time. :-)

no prob. it was the least I could do since you offered to give me some stuff back in November when I was starting out. Might have more later when I take the time to learn how to frag.

Bill, I have several frogspawn heads, a piece pf yellow scroll, and numerous zoas I could pick off for you. Also about a 2 inch accidental Idaho Grape monti. Problem is, I'm not able to make it to meetings very often and I'm not sure where Fairmount is. I could possibly arrange a drop off at the meeting even if I'm not attending though.
