View Full Version : my email to pure water club, i cant get an email back
wynna86 01-09-2012, 6:29 PM My email- I wrote you before in regards to my portable RO/DI filter not working properly due to pressure issues with the filter itself. You wrote me back with some troubleshooting ideas which didn't work. At this point I want the filter replaced with something that isn't portable. My biggest issue with your filter is that the description is completely false. I am only getting approximately 1/2 a galr per hour. At that rate I would only get 12 gallons in a 24 hour period. If I were using the waste water I would get a ton of it because it shoots out of the tube at a pretty fast rate. I can tell by that it is a faulty filter. I also want to share my experience with your 1/2 inch under sink attachment that was sent with the filter. First of all nobody uses 1/2 inch shut off valves anymore. The most common size used is 3/8. I had to make several trips to Home Depot before I finally found something that would work, which didn't involve your attachment. I spoke to several plumbers on this issue and they all said the same thing. They also informed me that almost all homes operate at around 50 PSI. Your filter requires 65 PSI to operate properly. That means that whoever buys one of your filter would have to get a booster to connect to the filter. I have tried to be civil about this but when I send you my concerns about a faulty filter and you reply with troubleshooting ideas instead of offering a replacement filter or something better than what you sent me I tend to start getting a little angry. I don't like being given the run around so please don't do that anymore. I want a better filter and not another troubleshooting email. Lets get this issue resolved so I don't have to take any further actions.
First - Threats rarely get you anywhere.
Second - What is the purpose of coming on an Atlanta club site only to complain in your one and only post?
Third - It seems to me that the filter is working fine. Do some research and you will see that almost all filters work at an optimal pressure of 65 psi.
wynna86 01-09-2012, 6:53 PM But a 50 psi I should be getting more than 1/2 gal every hour. At 65 psi it is rated to do 50 gal per day. And their cs is bad.
Not to be rude but you bought cheap, expect the service and product to reflect the price. This isn't a product review it's a complaint about a company.
If you want a good RODI then go to Air Water Ice or Buckeye field supply.
haninja 01-09-2012, 7:57 PM Who exactly are you addressing with this post? We are not associated with that company nor do we run a complaint station...
Smallblock 01-09-2012, 9:54 PM Why are you guys bashing this guy? He is trying to build his post up without post padding with one or two word replys. Maybe he put it there to see if anyone else has had any luck with with said companys customer service. Maybe he is seeking advice.
The guy tried to follow the rules and make a long meaningfull post and you still jump him for it. I don't get why you guys would respond so negativly. I'm sure he really feels welcome. So what if he is from texas. Please try to be more positive to new members who may be considering becoming members. He really put forth some effort to type his post instead of going around saying hey that looks good etc etc.
wynna welcome to the club first off, thanks for trying to not post pad. Alot of people have had bad experiances with that company and pretty much no one here likes their products. Like mentioned above there are some other companys that offer good quality RODI units for good prices.
The three I would suggest are Bulk Reef Supply, Air water and ice, The filter guys. I have had no experiance with buckeye field supply but a guy that works there has come here and seems to know his stuff about the products sold their. He is really nice and willing to explain things in great detail.
I have a Bulk reef supply 75 gallon per day plus unit. Its under 200 I belive. It comes with a inline dual tds meter, a attached pressure gauge, color changing DI media, and just about every fitting to hook it up how you want it. Their customer service is great as well. I've had mine for over a year I think and its still doing great.
Don't be turned off by some of the replys you got. Not everyone here will react that way. Glad you found us, this club has alot to offer in many areas. Lots of knowledge as well.
Amici 01-09-2012, 10:39 PM Wow. Knock knock.....anyone home in there? They are using us a complaint board. This isn't BBB or Angie's List.....
Smallblock 01-09-2012, 11:08 PM http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35380&highlight=pure+water+club
Hmmmm so did you, theres more home here than you I know. Can you say you got bumped up a grade in school. Most likely not but I sure can. Thats not the point here I don't appreciate you trying to insult my smarts bro.
That was not the point of my post. The point is why treat a person who is intrested in becoming a member with disrespect like that. Maybe just maybe it could be handled a differant way.
For instance, telling him nicely that he shouldn't post like that and instruct him on what type of post we are looking for to increase his post count properly. Also maybe like myself this is the only forum he has ever participated in and doesn't really know what to do. I've never used any other forums and wasn't familiar with how they work or what to post.
Just lets try to be nicer to our guest and make them feel welcome here even if they made a mistake at first. Try and actually get them to engauge you instead of running away from the site scared that every time he or she post that they will get harrased.
Smallblock 01-09-2012, 11:23 PM Listen before this turns into some sort of argument, all I care about in the post is we should treat or guest better and with more respect. Everyone thinks differantly and everyone makes mistakes. There is just no need to speak to someone so harshly that is just starting out here.
Think about the future of the club which is new members. This person may be moving to ATL soon or something like that. The point of the club is for anyone intrested and that care about the hobby to come together and share storys, questions, and advice with eachother. Lets just try to be nice and welcome new members with respect even if they made a mistake. Now if they keep making similar mistakes then you have a right to start treating them differant.
Edit: Also keep in mind that this person cannot post in Rants and complaints and the only other option I see is in fact product reviews because they explain what is going on with their unit. So the review of the unit is negative.
Amici 01-09-2012, 11:31 PM Yup notice mine was in reef discussion and was advisory and not trying to slam them. I certainly didn't go hunting for forums hundreds of miles away to spread more public libel.
I think you are the only one to think this person has any desire to be an active member of the club. I know you are dying to be a mod and come rescue the helpless on the forum from the evil clique you claim is here but really this just makes you look foolish. Pick your battles Blake. I'm done here and I'm done responding to your absurd posts. Happy reefing.
Smallblock 01-09-2012, 11:50 PM Something is really wrong with you dude. I'm not dying to be anything in this club.
I screwed up, Lesson learned and dont make the same mistake I did. This is your last sentence in your first post. So you are advising others to not by a product from this company. Do you think because of your post about the company that more or less units were bought by members of this club? In reality thats a slam to the company. No where in there was a maybe I got a bad one.
Now look at his post no where does he say that he would never do buisiness with this company again. You did in yours so to me you slammed and he didn't.
You almost make it seem that life is some sort of comic book, coming to save the helpless from the evil so called clique. When did I mention anything like this. Its hard for you to see points in post. Even when before the point there is a here is my point typed.
Again before you went into comic book fantasy land the only point I was trying to make was give a new member a break and help them learn the rules and become the "ideal acting" member.
PufferChris 01-10-2012, 2:05 AM +1 to smallblock i know I'm not a member but this forum is getting really negative it's really sad to see that even some of the so called staff (mods/bod) lately are some of the worst offenders
from the home page of arc::
We welcome all enthusiasts, from those just interested in the hobby to seasoned veterans. If you are thinking about setting up a saltwater tank or just have experiences to share, this is the place.
i did not feel that the op was slamming the company . i feel he was just sharing his experiences..
i feel that this is a great club but also feel that certain things should not be posted on the boards but instead through pm I know you are dying to be a mod and come rescue the helpless on the forum from the evil clique you claim is here but really this just makes you look foolish. Pick your battles Blake. I'm done here and I'm done responding to your absurd posts. Happy reefing.
Especially from the club leaders/staff
rdnelson99 01-10-2012, 8:04 AM Didn't read all the posts on this thread but only the first few. HOWEVER, I wanted to post my experience with Pure Water Club. I swear by them. For the price, I got exactly what I expected and when I e-mailed them with a question they e-mailed me right back with very good information. In my opinion, if the documentation clearly states (which it does) that it runs best at 65 psi and recommends a booster pump if you don't have 65 psi (which it does) how can you complain that it isn't working right when connected to lower pressure?
I bought a 150 gal/day portable from them for about $75 if I remember. No, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but you know what? I get good quality RO/DI water out of it and it didn't cost me more than I could afford at the time. Yes, I want a better unit one of these days but it sure beats using tap or lugging water from the LFS every week.
In summary, I feel this is one of the few companies around these days who really spells out what you get for your money and lives up to customer service.
haninja 01-10-2012, 8:21 AM So Blake, you say that a new member first post in a new club is a negative review on a company would be the way to welcome yourself?
Tony_Caliente 01-10-2012, 8:44 AM While I am a big exponent for free speech...why don't you "guys" take this into the parking lot and settle it the old-fashioned way (Kidding, of course). At this point, it is my opinion that this exchange is not a positive (or even benign) reflection of the club which is repelete with well-meaning, generous and knowledgeable members (including non-members that make helpful contributions), support staff and sponsors. I know, I know, if I don't like something, I don't have to read it. And, DEFINTELY NO, I am not looking for a position. What a still don't undertand is why PMs are not used to air these exchanges. Shalom!
eagle9252 01-10-2012, 8:44 AM each to their own. plenty of lerkers before posting. I know I never said Hi I'm new bla, bla, bla. Personnaly I would have started out differently but each to their own. Just by the title it shows that there was a problem somewhere. lots of times it's easier to hit the back button and go somewhere else.
Its hard for you to see points in post. Even when before the point there is a here is my point typed.

So because a member is out of state, he is not able to help this club? Are you a member of the big sites such as Reef Central or R2R?
izoid 01-10-2012, 10:18 AM So because a member is out of state, he is not able to help this club? Are you a member of the big sites such as Reef Central or R2R?
He is NOT a member, he has one post, lives in Texas and is bashing a company. Not very helpful, IMO.
Reef Central is NOT a local reef club, ARC is.
I just read your sig....I get it now.

jead85 01-10-2012, 10:39 AM Sure you don't have it connected backwards? Just saying.,..
rdnelson99 01-10-2012, 10:45 AM LOL Wouldn't surprise me if the OP did just that.
As I said, mine works great. Does it put out 150 gal/day. I don't know, I have never let it run for 24 hours. What I do know is that I can make about 15 gal in a couple of hours and that is exactly what I needed.
Also, when someone buys a car that says 50 mpg, do they expect that every time you drive it you will get exactly 50 mpg?
Sure you don't have it connected backwards? Just saying.,..
JohnIII 01-10-2012, 10:49 AM I will say mine works just fine never timed 150 gallons. But always have 0 tds on the meter. Fills up my 20 gallon brute in a couple hours.

Smallblock 01-10-2012, 11:33 AM So Blake, you say that a new member first post in a new club is a negative review on a company would be the way to welcome yourself?
No its not a way to welcome yourself, but untill a negative pattern forms he should be treated like anyone else. Kinda like the old saying don't judge a book by its cover.
He may be about to move here, or have alot of family here and visit often no one knows. I remember a certain member I think moved here from Iowa or somewhere like that, granted he joined after he moved but what if he would have started posting before his move. If he had messed up once, would you have wrote him off because of his location.
I got a pm last night from a non paid member who has over 115 post. He told me thanks for standing up for a new member and its responses like that is the reason he will not join. He said its better to just lurk and only ask when he absolutley needs to rather than say something wrong and be judged.
Most likely you guys are right that he is from out of state and may not be here to be a good member of the club. At least watch him for a couple of more post before you write him off.

Thanh386 01-11-2012, 12:47 AM Although i have to admit this was a horrible "introduction", his location shouldn't be the afactor of hows he is treated and welcomed, especially from members of the staff. Even if he's not going to be a member or be a part of the board, your response will be seen by other potential members.
Ripped Tide 01-11-2012, 1:01 AM OK maybe every one was having a bad day. Being in a ill mood can cause folks to lash out and say things that can, at times, be unnessesary. I've been mad and said things about companies I could have kept to myself.
We all have probably had a bad experience with a company and wanted to "tell the world!"
The admins have to deal with what is good and what is bad for the forums. I am sure that this job can be tedious and can cause people to seem "jaded" some times. I know that the entire arc staff can be very friendly and they are a great bunch of people. With out a staff, you wouldn't be able to enjoy this website, build friendships, trade goods, have great speakers, frag swaps, etc. So, unless there is a need to go further I think all parties should kiss and make up. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of fun drama, but I don't quite know about this one.
Wynna doesn't seem to have much else to say.
jead85 01-11-2012, 6:11 AM My only other thought is the user told pwc that he would bash them everywhere unless it's fixed
rdnelson99 01-11-2012, 7:54 AM Again, I would just like to reiterate. While this thread soon became and heated discussion of how members and staff react on the forum, it seems to me an important aspect has been overlooked by most. The OP had a bad experience with a vendor (in my opinion because he refused to accept the information that was clearly provided by the vendor) and has chosen to slander the company. Myself and at least 1 other member have clearly stated that this company provided us with a product that was exactly as advertised and anticipated. In addition, this company provided continued support in a very timely manner. I will go one further, in my case, I screwed up my order and didn't get something I wanted. This company immediately mailed it to me at no charge and even picked up the postage.
I hope everyone who has participated in this thread will walk away with a positive opinion of this vendor and not be swayed by the comments of a person who in my opinion would rather be angry then let anyone make amends. As always, JMHO.

He is a member of ARC. He is NOT a PAID member. I fully agree with you, however. He definitely could have typed his first post on here in a different manner. Had he politely asked a question first about said product, there wouldn't have been a stink. When I had tanks, I was on numerous boards throughout the nation. Just because ARC is a local club, should out of state reefers not be allowed to join our club?
Because Blake is a personal friend of mine, that is why my signature says what it says. It was a joke and I just never removed it. I did the same thing when another local friend of mine was banned a while ago.

Oh and I won't be back with a tank for about another year. Once I buy a house I plan to do something around 200+ gallons with a fish room. I can't stand the small limited space under the stand anymore.

I hear that, go big or go home, right? I bet what ever you do will look pretty nice. I wish I had gone with the 150 cube in stead of the 93.... O well.

I could have told you that bro. If you want to change, Nate is still selling his I believe. You can get with him to see what you two can work something out.
I want to do an in wall so I wanted to get a bigger tank, that way I don't change my mind a few months down the road and change tanks again. LOL.

I can't man. If I have a tank, I'll keep on adding things to it, then I'll lose control like I always do and I'll just keep going bigger. So I have to wait until I have a new place that can accommodate a larger tank. One that I know I won't change. Believe me, I've tried downgrading while I wait but it didn't work out that well.
rdnelson99 01-11-2012, 10:56 AM Boy if that doesn't sound like an AA (aquariumaholics anonymous) speech I don't know what does???? LOL
