Looks like you were very successful with the algea bloom. Did you get it by increase flow and phosphate reduction alone or was there something else?

TriGa22
08-02-2007, 1:43 AM
I used the phosphate remover, added 2 new powerheads, 2 hydors, cut phytoperiod for the first week the went back to normal.

Always sounds so easy when someone else explains their solution. My solutions always seem to include restless nights, sore back, and wasted money. :)

TriGa22
08-02-2007, 1:53 AM
lol. How come? I reaserch everything I buy and make sure Im doing it right. It allows me to know everything will go well. And so far its great.

I'm kidding to some degree. Solutions just sometimes seem to work better in theory than in practice. :)

Tyler well done! I'm truly impressed.

You researched it yourself. You funded it yourself. You put it together yourself. Bravo young man! You did it the right way and its looking beautiful. If only all our young reefers could be like you :). + rep! Nicely done!

TriGa22
08-08-2007, 5:26 PM
Thanks for the kind words everyone! Ive spent around $1,500 and I think itll go to $2,000 and then stop. I still have RODI to buy and a couple other things. This is everything though all food everything.Excluding when it was FOWLR

Thekid55
08-08-2007, 5:29 PM
the tank look really good better than my first tank.
$1,500 is a pretty penny see if you can get some used stuff and save some dough. Also so some word of advice from a young reefer to another. if you dont feel like taking care of your tank anymore dont sell. just keep the stuff and sell the livestock. it will save you some CASH in the future

TriGa22
08-08-2007, 5:37 PM
I will never sell the tank or get tired of it. This tank is my baby and I love fish so It will get taken down when I move out in like 5 years.

blind1993
08-08-2007, 6:10 PM
lol.. whenever anyone comes over my house i say you MUST stay atleast 12inches away from the tank. if u do get closer u will not be aloud in the kitchen. so i guess i am an underaged over protective parent. i know how u love ur tank.

Tyler,

How long have you had your watchman goby? Was it always such a bright shade of yellow? I just got one today, about 1 inch, and its not quite as vivid but I also know its very young. Did yours get progressively brighter? I love your tank and choice of fish, by the way.

Amazing. I am where you were months ago. I have a 29 as well. Is that PVC elbow on the top right side of your tank your sump return?

TriGa22
02-29-2008, 9:06 PM
Yes that is my sump return. At the time, and still lol, I dont know how to do the loc-line things so I thought the elbow was cheap and easy.

Derek_S
02-29-2008, 10:49 PM
What kind of overflow box is that? It looks slim and compact. Mine is a honker. I had to move it to the side because it seemed to block so much light from the tank.

Cam in the pics with the clowns? Those are palythoas if im right. They have a green center.

Barbara
05-30-2008, 6:13 PM
The first thing I thought when I saw your pics was how much I liked the clay pot. I wouldn't take it out. I used to use them when I had FW tank of african chiclids. They are a great addition to a fish tank.

Good job Tyler.

TriGa22

Thanks Barbara, I wasnt going to take it out. My clown sleeps in it. poor guy

TriGa22

Not really an official tank update. But to fill you in since the last update I lost my Flame Angel and my Six-line. I did get some more rock from Barbara, Thanks Barbara, so here are a few pictures, nothing special. I found that piece of bubble algea. It has to be the size of an egg!

Barbara
07-28-2008, 11:25 PM
Tyler, how do you get your YWG to pose for pics? Mine hides every time I walk in the room!

TriGa22
07-28-2008, 11:29 PM
He is a little timid, but he loves me. He always is sifting sand. Here is my favorite picture of him. A little over exposed but its still cool looking.

that new overflow looks familiar...lol, if its the same one I'm thinking of, I'm glad its getting good use. It was too bulky for me, and it had been wasting away in a closet for too long...

The tank looks good. I am afraid of taking vacation now; it seems like everyone's tank crashes when they leave for more than a day....

In some of the first pics you had a yellow and blue fish (I'm guessing it's an angle) what is it? What is the minimum tank size? I'm looking for a pgmy angle to put in my tank, any suggestions? I really liked the blue and yellow one.

TriGa22
10-08-2008, 9:52 PM
That was just a plain pygmy angel. I would say a 30 gallon with lots of LR is a good sized tank, anything smaller might not be able to support it.
