Not sure, but they sure are brighter than the 3-250MH I had before. I'll try to get a pic tonight.

I have them mounted on a rope and pulley system that I cheated and copied from another post on here and have them about 4-6" over the water.

What size tank are they over? I have one coming for my 93 cube and I think I may need a 2nd.

i was at a Lfs yesterday and he had 3 over a 200 gallon tank. i have mine 1" over my tank but was told i should move it up a good bit maybe 6" and i should get better color

Thanks. Yeah, the rock is fake, too much for a real one, almost costs 4 times more than this one was. I got it at Kelley's warehouse when it was closing.

Yep par is not a prob with the units, I saw, if I remember correctly ~180 @ 24" w/ only blues and ~220 with white and blue. ~800 at surface with blue only ~1250 with white and blue. Keep in mind I just drove 9 hours coming back from ga/fla game so not too sure how accurate those numbers are but I think they are good ballparks. My final conclusion was you can grow anything under them, no prob. Great color when i threw it over my Solana to test it. I would agree my units are 18k. I got three to put over my 125 and am very excited about them.

I was told that these will be upgradable to dimmable in the near future, but to be honest, I don't think it will be necessary. I don't think I'll be dimming them because I don't see the need to. The blue to white ratio Is perfect for me. PM me if you want the source info.

A better way to explain it is that there are many LED manufactures, many of which use the same black box made in china as their "shell". Therefore, configuration of wiring, drivers, heat sinks, optics, etc are all up to the designer of the unit

So if someone uses cheap parts and doesnt design everything correctly there could be issues, but that is true with any electronic. As for these LEDs, they were put together with great parts and are quality checked by the designer once they have reached the states.

Ahh, yes, the LEDs blue:white:uv are users choice.

I see that you're changing over to leds, I'm making that change also after doing alot of resurch. They noted that we should get more spectrum light than metal halides @ a lower wattage for less electrical cost.

Oddly enough, this set up is omitting a lot brighter lighting than my metal halides did. The only difference is that I had the MH lighting 18" over the water surface compared to 6" with the LEDs.

I changed from 4 mh running radiums to the 18k LED setup. Yes it is much brighter. I miss the shimmer effect that the halides did, but I haven't tried different placements for the LED's yet. The mh's were about 14" above the tank, the LED's are only 4" right now.

Let me change that. There is a shimmer, but not as much as the halides. How high do you have yours? I got mine, threw them on the tank and went out of town. I haven't got to play with placement yet.

I have them installed like this also and do have shimmer. It is a different shimmer than the halides but it's still better in my opinion. The units I have do not have any lenses so there is no spotting anywhere.

Your tank is pretty much a FOWLR. Any light will work on this tank.

Yes. I do have some Zenia and some frags not pictured that I just introduced. I wasn't having much luck with the MH's because of the height I had them at.

I have one over my bc 29 reef. Have Sps and lps. All seem happy and growing. I grow shrooms like wild fire. Sps seems to be doing great. My birdsnest seems to extend alot more and colors up nice

I'm very pleased with mine. I have seen more growth from my SPS and zoa's since the install about a month or two ago. Colors are great! I'm actually considering adding a 2nd, less powerful unit.

Still Happy here, great growth on SPS!! The increased Algae is a nusiance but I cant blame it all on the light...

I have 4 and considering adding another one.
