So after watching LilRobb's Harlequins, I couldn't resist getting a pair. I'm not gonna post pics since my iPhone cam sucks, but I'll post a YouTube vid once I feed them.

View Full Version : My New Harlequins Wally 09-17-2011, 6:49 PM So after watching LilRobb's Harlequins, I couldn't resist getting a pair. I'm not gonna post pics since my iPhone cam sucks, but I'll post a YouTube vid once I feed them. Wally LilRobb 09-17-2011, 6:55 PM Hehe, They're cool - we watched them go to town on a chocolate chip starfish... Qasimja 09-17-2011, 7:40 PM I wish I could get one Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk Wally 09-17-2011, 9:10 PM Hehe, They're cool - we watched them go to town on a chocolate chip starfish... It was magnificent! I have a star in my sump and I'm gonna feed them a leg every few days. Terry 09-17-2011, 11:01 PM It's much cooler to give them the whole starfish. They will keep it alive as long as possible. Chocolate chips are probibly theire least favorite. Also they do much better in pairs. I've had about a half dozen in 25 years. One pair I had the male got caught in a filter and the female quit eating and starved herself to death. I had them 2 years. The LFS I got them from gave me a free CC that was a little beat up. Is there a type of starfish you would recommend? gmpolan 09-18-2011, 12:52 AM Where did you get them, ive been looking for a while and havent had much luck? Seth The Wine Guy 09-18-2011, 2:11 AM I love mine! Favorite creatures in my tank. Will eat starfish right from my hand. Smallblock 09-18-2011, 2:12 AM better watch out seth you know a hand resembles a star fish in a way, you're gonna draw back a nub one of these days!! PFCDeitz 09-18-2011, 9:09 AM Geoff Nemos gets then alot. They had some in this week John26 09-18-2011, 11:11 AM All this talk and no pictures??? Wally 09-18-2011, 1:18 PM I bought them at Nemo's 2. Pics are not good enough. I'm gonna post a vid once I feed them. Wally Wally 09-18-2011, 9:44 PM So here is a video: http://youtu.be/OhxPVOYu6VI I cut an arm off of the CC is got. I didn't like doing it, and hope I can find a place that carries small sized SF. GiulianoM 09-19-2011, 3:11 PM Very cool.. I saw some earlier at Nemo's on 78, and had wondered what they were. karn888 09-20-2011, 3:32 AM If you cut an arm of the star fish, there is also a chance that it would die and foul the water. So, keep an eye on the starfish from time to time. Wally 09-20-2011, 6:42 AM If you cut an arm of the star fish, there is also a chance that it would die and foul the water. So, keep an eye on the starfish from time to time. Definitely. I was able to get three little CCs, so I'm gonna ditch the cutting and just by smaller ones. Wally NanoReefer 09-20-2011, 9:31 AM How often do you feed them? My understanding is that they only need to be feed like once a month... weaglereefer 09-20-2011, 10:12 AM I miss mine. Always walking around, double-fisting Asterina starfish like a champ. I need to get a pair, those stupid stars are coming back... Flake 09-20-2011, 10:45 AM I love my harlequins, they're my favorite things in the tank. Wally 09-20-2011, 8:30 PM How often do you feed them? My understanding is that they only need to be feed like once a month... I plan on feeding them once a week. I get small CC for $5, and will be pulling the CC out after 3 days so it doesn't pollute my tank. Edit: I love my harlequins, they're my favorite things in the tank. They are finally out and about in the tank. They hid for the first two days, but now walk around waving their front arms. I love these guys. Mine don't come out unless they've exhausted their starfish and are looking for more but every time they do I just sit and watch them wiggle their little arms. I love them. |
