We wanted to get an idea of how many people would be able to make it out next week to the ARC BBQ Picnic/Party (http://atlantareefclub.org/forums/Got this message from the) so please let us know!
We want to get as many people out as possible and prepare ourselves so no one goes hungry :)
Bring your family! Bring your friends! ... just don't bring your fish :fish:

There's already been lots of talk on frag trading too so be prepared with a cooler so that you won't have to worry about the heat!

There may be some cute fish or corals, but I doubt there will be many girls... Who knows - this is a family event, so we'll see what happens.

I'm not sure what you guys would like me to bring. Something simple and can stand getting a little bit cold.

I'm thinking either wings or fried rice. But if you guys have a deep frier setup then I can go all out with food.

When is it?
Clear your calendars for Saturday, July 21st for our first Atlanta Reef Club BBQ Picnic event!!! We'll be hanging out from 12-8 with BBQ planned to be served around 2:00PM.
The park closes at 8:00PM so we have to be sober and out by then

Where am I going?
The BBQ will take place at Murphy Candler Park (http://www.murpheycandler.org/source/mcll_directions_001.asp). Note that the picture above is of a random pavillion, not the actual one.
The address is 1551 West Nancy Creek Drive Atlanta, GA 30319
(Mapquest directions here (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=1551%20W%20Nancy%20Creek%20Dr%20Ne&city=Atlanta&state=GA&zipcode=30319%2d1849&country=US&geodiff=1))
The BBQ grill will be on site so expect it fresh and hot!

How much is this going to cost me?
The BBQ and drinks will be provided by the Atlanta Reef Club. We are encouraging donations to help cover the costs of the food. A $5 donation per person will help keep club costs manageable. While we're trying to cover as much as we can with club funds, we don't want to go completely broke! All donations are greatly appreciated!
:thanks:

What's to eat?
The ARC will be providing the BBQ and drinks (pulled pork, burgers, hotdogs, sodas and water). We will be doing a pot-luck style event for side items, deserts, chips, etc. (see below for details)
You are welcome to bring alcoholic beverages but will be strictly BYOB. Due to park rules, it is illegal to sell alcohol at the park so be sure to bring some to share :)

What's going on?
We have 3 pavilions reserved right next to the water! (so if it rains, we will have somewhere to hide).
Fishing is permitted only if you have a license :fish:
(what fish hobbyist is going to an aquarium party to catch fish anyway???) :slap:
There is a public pool at the park for a fee of $2 (under 18) and $3 (over 18).
Non motorized boats are allowed on the lake, however "home made boats are not permitted" (thats really the way they told us...lol). :sail:
We will have some port-a-pottys on site for your biological needs
The Atlanta Police department will be there to enforce unruly activities so make sure you stay safe and don't do anything illegal. :jumpy:
We'll have a good time, hang out, kick back and relax with friends and family... and ofcourse don't forget your cameras! :photo:
So bring your sunscreen and Frisbees and let's have some fun!

Who's going to be there?
????????

See you there!
  :wine:  :w00t:
:party::party::party::party: :party:
Here you go.

Showtime305

Here's how we'll handle the pot-luck items:

We'll have 3 categories.
Appetizers (chips/dip/salsa, salad/dressing, etc)
Side items (casserole, pasta salad, fruit, etc.)
Desert (cookies, cake, brownies, etc)

If your last name begins with the letters:
A-F - bring a desert
G-P - bring a side item
Q-Z - bring an appetizer

If you're bringing food for the pot-luck, please bring enough food to provide for your family and about 10 others.

And this also.

I MIGHT make it. If I do, I'm going to try to bring a nonreefing friend. Reefers are hard to come by in Eatonton, GA. Who knew!!! ;)

Dakota9

Tony, I still haven't went out and bought my "homemade" dessert from the kroger bakery, so just count on me bringing 4 bags of ice in a cooler, will that be enough? Tell you what, I'll just buy ice till tthe big cooler (on wheels) is full, that will be my contribution, I'm going to try to arrive between 12 and 1pm. See you tomorrow

It was great being at the BBQ today, meeting some for the first time, and seeing some familiar faces, the food was great and the company even better, thank you for letting me be part of it. I hope we can do this sort of thing semi-regularly

Sorry if this post comes to you in dublicate.
