So I am looking to get a RO/DI system. I think that it is important to have a TDS meter... Right? So I looked at a couple of units, one on Bulkreefsupply.com:

it has a TDS meter and the pressure gauge and its a 5 stage unit... looks decent and its $174.99... Not bad.. Free shipping above $175.00 so there it goes.

Then there is the airwaterice.com units that the comparable unit is the Typhoon III:

This unit doesn't have the TDS meter but I don't know why I feel like this is somehow a better unit? Am I just imagining something? and this unit is $189.99...plus I don't know if there is shipping involved but I think that if there was free shipping, they would advertise it all over the place.

Anyway, can someone tell me what they think of these units? I mean, isn't it the quality of the filters? What do people have? I have a small tank so I don't need more than a 50-100 gpd unit. But I like to buy quality but not pay out of my nose either. I want to spend ~$200.00 more or less... And I think I want to buy new...

Suggestions?

Curious too as I'm in need of a RODI unit as well. If you only need as little as 50gpd is there something wrong with AWI's smallest unit?

I'm considering this one as I only have a biocube, at least for now, and don't need a ton of water. Figure I'll eventually set something up to autofill a huge trash can anyway at some point.

IMO the bulk reef supply. Its built super solid and cheaper priced than the AWI. The AWI is pretty bulky too

I just got a coralife RO/DI not too long ago...I really like it! I got mine on sale, but when not on sale they are still fairly cheap! It's a very good product!

Mine is from the filter guys, nice unit and customer service is fantastic.

I don't have any experience with the Bulk Reef Supply model, but I do have an AWI unit and it has worked flawlessly. I used to have a Pure Water Club unit, and that thing was a piece of garbage... my AWI works MUCH better!

I have one from the bulk reef supply. Its doing great. I've had it for 6 months, and no discoloration still on the pre filters. maybe my source water is clean....
