View Full Version : Suggestions Needed on Small Skimmer ASAP
jonboyb 04-16-2011, 11:27 PM Just figured out I can't use my Euroreef RS-135 in my sump on the smaller cube. Fits but flow is right against the edge and will end up in the stand. I only have a 9.75"x11" area to work with and I'd LOVE to stay away from Remoras and the like.
Does anyone carry Reef Dynamics (old EuroReef) in Atlanta now....the Reef Dynamics INS80 would be my weapon of choice if I can find one quick.
System is a 25g display, 10g sump, and will have a 10g stand-alone fuge.
And all sponsors/members are welcome to let me know of any for sale.......if I could locate something tomorrow that would be fantastic.
the marineland 100 would fit, I have one and it works great.

Rskillz 04-16-2011, 11:52 PM I have the new Hydor nano skimmer in my frag tank (28g) and so far I've been very impressed. Works WAY better than the RO NS-80, the aquatic life, or the remora.
It's only about 12 inches high and 3 inches deep.

Jaycen B. 04-17-2011, 7:05 AM Creation reef has Reef Dynamics skimmers not sure if they have the one your looking for in stock though.
Rbredding 04-17-2011, 8:51 AM Tunze has some small skimmers that pull lotsa gunk..
there's one on ebay right now for cheep cheep..
Deltec MCE300 is the best nano skimmer out there, IMO. Not cheap, but worth every penny.
Hammcd 04-17-2011, 10:57 AM I use the Aquaticlife 115 skimmer in my 30g and love it....the Tunze 9002 is also suppose to work well

+1 on the Tunze DOC 9002 (I think that's the right model). I had one for my nano and it worked great! Pain in the *** to clean though because of how it's made.
There is an Aquatic Life 115 on eBay right now for right around $50 shipped.
Hammcd 04-17-2011, 11:18 AM yeah the aquaticlife are easy to clean and cheap!, takes a couple weeks to break in and kinda noisy until they do but worth it imo

sonofDagon 04-17-2011, 12:34 PM +1 on the Deltec. IMO worth every penny.
jonboyb 04-17-2011, 1:33 PM I ran the Deltec MCE-300 on a 29 for a long time and while I concur is a good skimmer.....I was not a huge fan in the long run. Ended up selling it. SKimmed super but the cleanup was a disaster trying to clean the tube to the cup. I had to clean and adjust it every couple days to maintain consistancy. In fact I did a "shoot-out" between it, and Remora, and Red Sea and it was definantly the winner of the 3 I tested.

Mockery 04-17-2011, 1:43 PM Jenn at IO can get reef dynamic.
I'd give her a call.
jonboyb 04-17-2011, 2:48 PM Thank you Mockery!!!
Talk to Jenn all the time but had no idea she was a EuroReef/ReefDynamics dealer. She's already on the case to get me an INS-80:thumbs:
And for anyone who hasn't run EuroReef/ReefDynamic skimmers.......you might want to give them a shot if you're looking.
