When is it?
Clear your calendars for Saturday, July 21st for our first Atlanta Reef Club BBQ Picnic event!!! We'll be hanging out from 12-8 with BBQ planned to be served around 2:00PM.
The park closes at 8:00PM so we have to be sober and out by then

Where am I going?
The BBQ will take place at Murphy Candler Park (http://www.murpheycandler.org/source/mcll_directions_001.asp). Note that the picture above is of a random pavillion, not the actual one.
The address is 1551 West Nancy Creek Drive Atlanta, GA 30319
(Mapquest directions here (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=1551%20W%20Nancy%20Creek%20Dr%20Ne&city=Atlanta&state=GA&zipcode=30319%2d1849&country=US&geodiff=1))
The BBQ grill will be on site so expect it fresh and hot!

How much is this going to cost me?
The BBQ and drinks will be provided by the Atlanta Reef Club. We are encouraging donations to help cover the costs of the food. A $5 donation per person will help keep club costs manageable. While we're trying to cover as much as we can with club funds, we don't want to go completely broke! All donations are greatly appreciated!
:thanks:

What's to eat?
The ARC will be providing the BBQ and drinks (pulled pork, burgers, hotdogs, sodas and water). We will be doing a pot-luck style event for side items, deserts, chips, etc. (see below for details)
You are welcome to bring alcoholic beverages but will be strictly BYOB. Due to park rules, it is illegal to sell alcohol at the park so be sure to bring some to share :)

What's going on?
We have 3 pavilions reserved right next to the water! (so if it rains, we will have somewhere to hide).
Fishing is permitted only if you have a license :fish:
(what fish hobbyist is going to an aquarium party to catch fish anyway???) :slap:
There is a public pool at the park for a fee of $2 (under 18) and $3 (over 18).
Non motorized boats are allowed on the lake, however "home made boats are not permitted" (thats really the way they told us...lol). :sail:
We will have some port-a-pottys on site for your biological needs
The Atlanta Police department will be there to enforce unruly activities so make sure you stay safe and don't do anything illegal. :jumpy:
We'll have a good time, hang out, kick back and relax with friends and family... and ofcourse don't forget your cameras! :photo:
So bring your sunscreen and Frisbees and let's have some fun!

Who's going to be there?
????????

See you there!
  :wine:  :w00t:
:party::party::party::party: :party:

Here's how we'll handle the pot-luck items:

We'll have 3 categories.
Appetizers (chips/dip/salsa, salad/dressing, etc)
Side items (casserole, pasta salad, fruit, etc.)
Desert (cookies, cake, brownies, etc)

If your last name begins with the letters:
A-F - bring a desert
G-P - bring a side item
Q-Z - bring an appetizer

If you're bringing food for the pot-luck, please bring enough food to provide for your family and about 10 others.

Since I'm such an awesome guy i'll throw in 50 wings like last meeting, probably a 12'' cheese cake, and a case of beer, all on me. How does that sound?

Glad to see this idea made it off the ground... It is going to be a blast...

Althought I am a little upset about the lack of manmade boats and I have seen how unruly Kevin can get when he has a few drinks in him so he get my vote on first arrested by Atlanta's finest...

I am curious about the dog situation as well. Sounds like time for a trip to CostCo to pick up a desert.

It was the best chocolate cake I have ever had. I am not an expert, but the chocolate cake lover who has it every occasion even commented on how good it was.

Do we need to RSVP?

We (wife and kids) will be there with side dish and a few gallons of Lynchburg Lemonade (the 2k7 summertime drink of choice at our house).

Dog on a leash (and cleaned up after) are allowed in the park but please be mindful of the environment. There will be alot of people, alot of food, alot of little kids, etc... and a potentially long day.

We aren't requiring an RSVP due to the short time scale we're operating on. We're planning on having BBQ for about 300 people so hopefully we wont run out of food!

300 people... holly

You know if you want to get food the suppliers I use can give you a much better price than say costco.

Thought I'd post in this thread as I'm likely to get the attention of all "likely suspects", but it was great being at the BBQ today, meeting some for the first time, and seeing some familiar faces, the food was great and the company even better, thank you for letting me be part of it.....

Sorry if this post comes to you in dublicate.
