I got the idea to do a reef tank in March. Finally, after several setbacks and delays, the (RO/DI) water is in the tank, the lights are installed and the pump is on! I'll upload a photo tomorrow.
I feel a little like that first solo flight - glad I've come this far, very humbled by how much I have to learn.
It would not have happened without hours spent reading ARC and TRT. and Saltwater U was a great help (especially winning the live rock). Extra thanks to Ray for the beginner classes and the patience to answer all my newbie questions, Barney (slavicsavage) for the plumbing work (I didn't change it too much), Doug at reef tank lighting (you sent me exactly what was ordered, but the fixtures didn't fit the hood, & I had to resize/rewire it), Mike Coutts for the aquarium and stand (and a few challenges to overcome) and Andy for the custom sump and skimmer.
One question - what's best to clean the acrylic front? Is windex OK?
