Hey guys im sure some have heard and stuff but i got a 90 gallon. What i read the tank alone with water is about 1050 LBS. Stand and hood maybe another 100LBS. My question is would this be safe to have on my 2nd story. We also got a basement so this is kinda a 3 story house. I have some other heavy stuff but its all spread out. The tank will be the heaviest part. Anyone got any info on this?

I've always heard the golden rule that if possible run it across direction of floor supports instead of parallel

Well sadly this tank was a no go. Half way full it started to get unlevel. Go downstairs and the beam Warped 2 inches almost. I have to much crap upstairs.. Gonna wait till feb when i build my bar in the basement. oh well just keep my 37 going. Thanks Mods this can be closed

Is the house built to minimum code standards? If a beam in your house is deflecting two inches from 45 gallons of water there is some serious underlying issue.

This might be a bigger issue than you think. Most houses are built with the main level on floor joist and I've seen many huge tanks put on wooden floors.
If 45 gallons of water caused the floor to warp, you might want to investigate why.

more than likely, the stand/canopy weigh more than 100#...
as always the issue is distribution of weight, not the actual weight itself..
if your tank was setup so that the joist ran along the long center of the base, then it's not a surprise that the weight deflected the joist (deflection is the movement of a joist/beam under load, warping is due to moisture content/grain direction of the joist/beam)
if you're able to see the joist deflection, then the room that the tank is in must be over an unfinished area of your main floor.. if that's the case, you might want to go ahead and add the support columns (or a wall) that will transfer and further disperse the load of the tank over a larger area.. thus solving your issue...

I level the weight out with some wood to kinda give the stand more stability like a bed. The reason is the room its in is Packed with Extremely heavy furniture. My desk alone is over 1300 LBS. Then i have a King size bed with full bedpost and so on. Easy 500 Lbs. my 37 on our huge Dresser. Another 500 lbs Then two other Shelf's stacked with books. The tank was Right on the beam. But its ok. House is 24 years old lol. It did not warp 2 inches just with he tank. I just noticed it. So im doing to be taking things out and gonna see if i cant get this beam redone.
