MattTVI 05-15-2007, 11:57 AM Who's bringing the booze?
burdundi 05-15-2007, 12:02 PM Who's bringing the booze?
I'll definitely be bringing some frosty beverages for Simon and enough for a couple more people. :)
I doubt Simon's family would appreciate if we brought a keg though.
glxtrix 05-15-2007, 12:12 PM oh I'm sure they wouldnt care, lol. Too bad its so early in the evening, I'ld love to come out and say HI to everyone. Oh well, hope it all goes well. Hey Simon!
burdundi 05-15-2007, 12:15 PM Hey Lee,
I think this upgrade will take a while. Simon has told me for a while that it would take a whole evening. If you couldn't make it till later, that would be fine too. Depending on what's going on, we can order a pizza or break and go to dinner or something. Simon will know better about time constraints and what we can and can't do.

glxtrix 05-15-2007, 12:21 PM hmm maybe if I can actually get to work earlier than normal and get things done I might be able to make it out there, but I cant promise anything.

burdundi 05-17-2007, 9:10 AM Big thanks to Simon and everyone who came out (Tony, Mike, Todd, and George). It took a while, but Simon made it look easy!
Here are a few of the pics:
burdundi 05-17-2007, 9:10 AM I still don't have it on my tank yet, but I will in the next hour or so. I'll take full tank shot when I get it going.

tsciarini 05-17-2007, 9:15 AM Hey what's that brown thing in the center of your fixture? PAR booster?
Simon.Kruger 05-17-2007, 11:49 AM No thats the work booster. However the more you apply it seems the less work gets done. Note the pictures.
Thanks everyone. I hope you all enjoyed it.
Simon.Kruger 05-17-2007, 11:51 AM I just remembered I left beer bottle in the fixture!!!!
tsciarini 05-17-2007, 11:51 AM you know... looking back at those pictures... 5-6days a week at the gym and I STILL have little twig arms... *sigh*
dbm5557 05-17-2007, 1:03 PM You know Tony, I think Barry Bonds has found a solution for that :)
Lights look great guys.
glxtrix 05-17-2007, 1:37 PM you know... looking back at those pictures... 5-6days a week at the gym and I STILL have little twig arms... *sigh*
Tony you know you actually have to "workout" when you goto a gym.
Simon.Kruger 06-10-2007, 11:06 AM Hey Andy,
Come on just use your update. Do you like the 2x400 watt system or not? Has it made any difference to your tank? Were my efforts forgotten/worthless? ;-)
Hey what's that brown thing in the center of your fixture? PAR booster?
Naw, that's liquid carbohydrates, doncha know. I've heard inverts and macroalgaes love the stuff, but it may make your fish swim a bit funny.
burdundi 06-10-2007, 6:02 PM Hey Andy,

Hey Simon. The lights are going great. Thanks so much for all your help. My corals are exploding with growth and color. I definitely recommend 2x400 to anyone. I was worried about the heat, but so far (knock on wood) it hasn't been an issue. I need to get some pictures, but I'm not to happy with my aquascaping at the moment.

Wow thats a really cool retro fit. Where did you get the 400hqi's from. I just set up a 90 gal and am debating btw two 400 hqi or 3 250's. Anyone have any advice?

I got the 400w hqi electronic ballasts off of someone on Reefcentral. I'd look there and you might get lucky. Otherwise, I'd try Doug at Reef Tank Lighting. He is very helpful. I'd definitely recommend the 400's if you find a good deal on them.
