Most excellent

Next time your up in Lawrenceville, bring your camera so you can I can get some decent pix on my tank. :D

Maybe I will throw in a free frag or two.

How about a shot of the clam!

I love looking at your tank and would like to see what is around some of those beautiful corals. Can you get some medium shots maybe 1/10th of your tank per shot? Close enough to see the detail, but not so close as to frame only a single coral... flex some of that new camera muscle.

Thanks Doug... Here's a shot of the big guy. I've got a couple good shots of him, but I didn't want to load up this thread with too many pics just in case someone's on dial-up. You can see the Pocillapora on the left side of him is about ready to frag. :D

David, those are great shots! :kewl: I especially love the one of the birdsnest.

A little plug: James Wiseman will be speaking at SaltWaterU on May 5th on digital photography as well as giving a real hands-on workshop on the subject. Kevin and I both heard him speak at MACNA last year and Kevin participated in his hands-on workshop where he worked with folks one-on-one with great results.

Just thought you'd like to know,

Bob

Thanks Cameron... I'll have to figure out the whole continuous focus thing for those type of pics. Shouldn't take me that long, here's a few more I didn't have time to post last night, getting up at 4AM for work hurts when you've been up till midnight.

Thanks Lee, now if I could just get the clowns to go in the Anemone. Oh well, only time will tell.

Oh yeah, to let everyone know, the whole picture on the side of the tank with a clown in an Anemone didn't work... I think my clowns were actually laughing at me. All they host is seperate corners of the tank.

:boo: ... Lost them both. I've heard some other folks were having problems with them as well. First inverts I've lost in the tank other than a few snails that didn't right themselves after falling.

Thanks Brandon... A lot of it is the new camera. I had a Nikon point and shoot that I always used... it takes great shots, but pails in comparison to a digital SLR.

Thanks Alan... I love that little guy too. I've got him about 3 inches from the surface to make sure he has plenty of light. They are such slow growers, I want to give him as much as possible. It's kinda funny looking though, he is the tip of the peak in front of the left overflow. Here's a few shots:

I'm still playing around with the white balance to try to get everything just right as far as color, but this is real close.

Thanks Bryan... The Bonsai is a Limited Edition that's kinda hard to get ahold of. I picked mine up from Jerry a few weeks back, he's a great guy and is very generous with his frags. I'll let you know when it's time to frag them though, the orange/purple acro should be ready pretty soon.

I've got PS 9...

Sometime down the road, you may want to try Nikon Capture NX for your RAW PP work. if you're used to PS though, you may not like how capture works, it's a little counter-intuitive in its workflow from PS. I haven't used PS in ages, so it didn't bother me...

I've got the Nikon PictureProject that came with it, but from what I've heard, it's not that great. I'll have to see what I can find out on the Capture NX, I've heard it's a good piece of software.

David

David,

PictureProject is a useless piece of trash software... :) Capture NX is 100x more powerful. Just make sure, if you get it, that you update to v1.1 after install, they vastly improved the memory management... :)

the best part of capture is that it's around $130.00

look at bhphoto.com or 17photo.com or even adorama.com

all good stores to buy online from,

Hmmm... Nice try Doug, he seems to be doing OK. ;) The acro on the back is a blue Tort that I picked up from Kzoo. I've got it hanging on there with one of the Frag-Mags I won at the Feb meeting. It's holding good, but I think it's pretty close to the max weight on the magnet. The other one on a magnet is a Monti Peltiformis that's yellow with purple polyps.

you wouldn't believe how many shots I took to get these pics  .

No, I wouldn't. I borrowed a friend's Rebel XTi and took some beautiful pics of my niece, but almost every shot I took of the tank on every setting I tried looks like hell.

Your pics are fantastic, though. Maybe I'll get the hang of it yet.
