I just looked in the tank and saw my male black and white ocellaris fanning a rock and the female regular ocellaris chasing my hippo away from their rock. I looked closer and they had laid eggs! :yay: I picked this pair up from a member in Norcross who said they had laid eggs before but they hadnt in my tank until now. The irony is that I dont have a nem in the tank and they laid the eggs in a small cave on the side of a rock near no other corals.

Looks like I will be getting some stuff together over break to hopefully breed these little guys when they spawn next time.

If someone who breeds wants to make the trek down to Savannah and pick up the rock they spawned on you are welcome to it. Just bring a bucket because they decided to choose the largest rock in my tank.

Ill have to get my point and shoot out. The good camera is in Alpharetta so Ill try to get an ok shot. The eggs are BRIGHT orange and they laid them about 15 minutes after the light went off.

Yup, Drove all the way in for the last meeting through the hurricane.

I wish there were more LFS here. Ive only found one here thats worth anything and they are still stuck in the 80's with their filtration methods. Are there any decent stores in the boro?

We only had one in Statesboro but it wasn't good at all. They're closed now anyway.

Honestly when I wanted to go to a great store I go to Augusta and go to Star Aquatics. It's well worth the trip

Thats pretty freakin sweet. hope they spawn again soon

I'll be coming to savannah the 24th thru sunday for christmas with the family. I may be able to bring the rock back with me if someone here who wants to breed them can supply the container I'd be happy to.

From what I understand they hatch in 7-10 days so they will be hatched by the 17th or 20th. Its right around when I will be heading to ATL also, so if they havent hatched by the time I head home I might bring the rock and see if anyone is up for raising some clowns.

Thats cool. If I had the space and money I'd raise them and heck i'd love a pair...I'd set up a tank just for them lol

So don't you get the black clowns through selective breeding of the same species, or is it a different species?

Seems like this would make for some interesting offspring, perfect or a high school biology class to figure out the dominancy of the genes for coloration.

Ive heard these two spawning is what created Onyx clowns. I hope to find someone who is breeding or had breed them to reply.

Dr. John........where are you...... :)

Charlie, please post when you find out more about what kind of offspring a mixed pair produces!

I have a mixed pair of juvenile clowns who seem to be a pair. It'd be pretty interesting to see what color they'd be.
