at our next meeting with our SCREEN NAMES on them make it a permanent tag you can bring back every meeting..or not..

It's been brought up before. I know I have mentioned it a couple times and I am sure people before me have offered it up too, but nothing ever seems to come from it.

Hopefully, this time will be different.

20 minutes to Idol.......Are ARC Cards should have our screen name on the BIG!! and we could wear them around our necks like we have back stage passes to AC/DC or something....I know I have never taken the card out of my wallet since I got it.. It would be of better use there.

Yes it is.....I can read it from 100 yards but anything within 3 feet is a blur...

What would be even easier, is if the members would post pics in their profiles. I setup a purchase and I was giving some syringes to George, I missed both at the last meeting since they didn't have a pic setup in their freeking profiles!!!!!!!!:shout:

Since I had mine setup then they could have seen who I was and matched it up. Oh well.

Give me names on your chest..I can't carry my laptop around at the meetings for references. I can remember screen names cause we see them ALL the time...

Can someone bring in some name tags? Like the "hello my name is" type... I forgot the past meeting and will likely forget again. If someone just shows up with them then we'll have them. If need be the club can even reimburse the $3 it cost to buy them...

The best is when people introduce themselves as their screen name but not include their real name... :-P

Surely the club could spring for some of those cheap ones and hand them out when you sign in at the meeting. Or if someone has access to them somewhere, possibly donate a few.

Heck, I would almost settle for a roll of masking tape.

The pics are great, but I don't have a photographic memory, nor am I going to print out people's pics. Plus, not everyone who comes to the meetings is on the website.

I don't know why this isn't something that should be a part of every meeting.

Sign in, get a name tag, fill it out and then go mingle and make some new friends and find people you need to get up with for whatever reason.

I can't imagine the costs of those cheap sticker name tags being enough to break the bank.

The biggest problem is that people can change their screen names (and avatar, if we chose to put that on there).

I do have one idea, but it'll cost the club money. Let me do a little research and I'll see what I can come up with...

i say dont allow people to change their names...people should be accountable for what they say on the forum and if that person pisses of a bunch of people an easy escape would be to change your name and avatar. Just my 2cents i wouldnt allow it and on my old forum I ran we didnt allow it. :cheers:

Let's RF tag all members and tattoo bar codes. Then we can give out scanners.

It'll just make it easier for the computers after Skynet goes online.

I agree. There are other things in the club that I'm sure the money would be better spent on. These name tags cost next to nothing and I think would work well. We just need something small to help with ID'ing each other at meetings. Nothing extravagant needed, IMO.

My other idea has been a little bit of a letdown. It was to have a label printer at the meeting location. Eventually, we'll have a barcode scanner that will let us handle card distribution and door prizes much easier. The scanner program can hold a copy of the data from the website, including userID, avatar, and name, and print it out on the barcode.

However, color label printers start at $1100. The next best thing would be a black and white one...

Let me look through my computer junkyard. I think I have a label printer and barcode scanner. I can even write the app as I have a ton of barcode libraries and several label printing routines (kinda a specialty of mine as patient charts are a must have feature in our apps).

Great job at finding ID tags that don't make us look like alcoholics... not that some of us aren't, well just the ones with beer caps in the avatar... hey wait, that might be me... oh poo... If you have one you can donate to the club, that'd be great. As for the barcode scanner, I have one as well (USB that just acts as a keyboard, sending a CTRL-G at the end of a sequence); it'd be nice to not have to write for any specialized interface, for future support.

The barcode idea has been on the table for a while. The nametag w/ avatar is the new spin.
