View Full Version : Current fission skimmer rolo65 11-23-2009, 6:03 PM anyone know anything about this skimmer?....havent heard much about it or seen it very often... Amici 11-23-2009, 6:22 PM Ehhh they are kind of like Coralifes, OK for the money. Skimmers are very "you get what you pay for". If you want to get a budget skimmer, make sure you get one WAY over rated for your tank. LilRobb 11-23-2009, 6:26 PM The Current one isn't bad - all budget skimmers are just really iffy towards changes in waterlevel. As long as you can keep that stable (within like 1/4") even a cheap skimmer will do the job - in the long run the old credo is true: "buy cheap, buy twice" Robb bobz 11-23-2009, 7:01 PM I used one on my nano setup for about a year and it worked fine for those tanks. It actually did a pretty good job of skimming and it fit nicely in to the 10G sump I was using. I bought it because of the small size and it was the only one that would fit. bz Spike 11-23-2009, 7:46 PM I had one but I could never get it tuned in. Plus the adjustment knob was almost impossible to turn with your hand. So I used pliers, which eventually broke through the coating on the knob and water leaked out of it. From my experience I think they are a piece of s$#@. But that is just one man's opinion. rolo65 11-23-2009, 7:57 PM Well then I won't be getting one of those.....thanks for the info.....think Im gonna go with a aquamedic or octopus rolo65 11-23-2009, 10:07 PM ok........trying not to ask so many questions.....but what about a euro-reef skimmer....trying to figure things out since im bidding on ebay for one Amici 11-23-2009, 10:07 PM Euro reef are good skimmers. rolo65 11-23-2009, 10:09 PM thers also a aquamedic T1000.....ahhhhhh IDK WHAT TO DO!!!!!!.....both about the same price JennM 11-25-2009, 5:56 PM Euro-Reef. Although Euro-Reef won't touch any warranty issue if you bought it on eBay - just FYI... that is, assuming you're looking at a new one. Used - no warranty anyway. I'd go Euro-Reef well before an Aquamedic. And I've sold both. Much prefer EuroReef. Jenn kelleyga36 11-25-2009, 6:17 PM Go Cone. rolo65 11-27-2009, 9:57 PM I got a pacific coast skimmer today. Any thoughts? Amici 11-27-2009, 10:29 PM What model? some are just like Coralife Super skimmers but some are actually pretty decent. rolo65 11-27-2009, 10:47 PM Pacific coast ps100-p.....it's basically a temp....plus I haven't heard of them on here much and it was cheap....75$ new.....onna upgrade later but need something with a small enough FP to fit in my sump....getting a stand alone later on.....figured since I'm planning on upgrading later....can't pass up a new 75$ skimmer for the time being JennM 11-28-2009, 3:02 AM Yep, a lot like the Coralife. I don't think much of them, myself. Jenn Ghotit 04-15-2010, 12:11 AM iv heard the fission is garbarage , im debating on the Aquaeruo-USA Nano 2 , revies say its good but you never know till you apply it to you system jaymgm 04-26-2010, 12:16 PM Had one on an older system and it was terrible. |
