Let me/us/whoever know what you think and make suggestions! Eventually the pages will link to individual profiles of species and under each main heading will have the genus species listed beneath it as a link to thos profiles. thanks, Matt "Wiki Rookie" TVI piznac 03-20-2007, 8:24 PM Wow guys this looks nice. As an ARC member, you can edit almost anything in there. Please contribute as little or as much as you'd like! The only things you can't edit are the articles that concern club matters (needing a vote), such as the ByLaws and Constitution. Cameron 03-27-2007, 11:06 AM Hello All, Please take a look at the pages on Fish and Invert Identification and Care. Let me/us/whoever know what you think and make suggestions! Eventually the pages will link to individual profiles of species and under each main heading will have the genus species listed beneath it as a link to thos profiles. thanks, Matt "Wiki Rookie" TVIFor me, slang names of fish as well as scientiffic with a picture is most important. MattTVI 03-27-2007, 11:56 AM Cam, do you mean that you would prefer the profiles for fish to be listed by slang name first w/ scientific name after? Cameron 03-27-2007, 12:16 PM I would do a tag for both. I find in the books they are always listed under the scientific name which doesn't help me at all. Just by putting both in the section for a fish allows it to be searched which is good enough for me. Truth is few LFS use the latin name, practically nobody in the hobby does. Most people know and reference a fish by its slang name. If we are creating a "fishbase" things that are important to me are: 1. Slang names for fish 2. Reef Compatible 3. Overall size yound and old 4. Pictures prefer juvenille and adult 5. Precautions with the fish (venomous) 6. Captive Care notes I know nobody is going to create all that upfront, but starting a template with a complete set of information would be helpful down the road. We can fill it in as well go. Start off the first few with all the information we would like to see and then as it gets copied to use when defining other fish the tags will be there even if they are empty or labeled Unknown. MattTVI 03-27-2007, 12:22 PM Cam, Thanks for the reply. I think we have most of what you suggested. Have you had a chance to peek at it? I want it to be fleshed out, and I think that is the most helpful. At this point, the care requirements are at a minimum, but i'm hoping people w/ at minimum a year or two experience in keeping a particular species add what they are doing with their critters! thanks, Matt mojo 04-02-2007, 3:42 PM I believe that's "common" name... :) Slang would be more like "Nemo" or "Dori"... |
