Okay, this is a rather pointless post, but I just made an unfortunate realization...

* Warning * teenage whining found below. Do not read if whinging gets under you nails (like it does mine).

I just realized SWU3 is on the same days as my Senior Prom! I say "days" because prom is never a one-night affair... talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place, although the Prom gets to win this one.

That does stink...

(warning old people rambling to commence in 3, 2, 1)... Just remember, there will be a SWU4, 5, 6, 7, etc... but only 1 senior Prom... unless you get invited to someone else's prom and then that would be another senior prom, but it wouldn't be the same... or something like that... to my prom I wore an onion tied around my belt, as was the style of the day... :confused2:

I'm sorry that you'll have to miss out on SWU3. Well have fun and take lots of pictures for ya. Maybe you can sneak in for a couple hours.

Would someone please tell me a little about SWU3? Is it really worth the admission? What would I learn/see, and are there opportunities to aquire stuff for my aquarium?

I didn't go to my senior prom. I think at that point I almost alienated myself from everyone except my closest friends. And then people thought I would bomb the school for some reason. Thank God that I graduated the year before Columbine or I would have been in the counceler's office every week. But I digress. Man I hated high school.

But then on a side note. When I was 22 I ended going to two different ones. I figured out that for me that I didn't really miss out on anything. But then I'm a guy and I don't get to buy pretty dresses and get my hair and nails done.

I mean am I right? I'm thinking the prom for guys in their minds is so much different then for the girls. Its like its magical and glorified for the girls, but then for the guys its something alot different.

When did prom become a multi-day affair? It's stressful enough for teenagers (I almost wrote "kids" because I'm getting waaaay too old) over the years without turning it into some multi-day festival.

I deftly avoided my prom and alienated a whole slew of people for my prom. I was set to go and a friend won a raffle one of the wealthier parents was running for the use of his Ferrari 328 (he was a dealer) for the night. We skipped prom to joyride all night and I don't regret it for a second.

I don't know if I agree with you 100% on your prom evaluation, Billy; I know a lot of guys who stress out about getting the righ tux and with whom they're going. BUT, I do agree that girls tend to make it a much more serious fiasco - multiple trips to tanning beds weeks in preparation, manicures, pedicures, crash diets, $200 hair appointments, you name it... that's what has become the "norm" for us girls, I guess. Just give me a nice dress and a cute date, and I'm good to go!

Bryan - there's a website link for SWU somewhere on this site that gives more details as to who will be speaking and such. In the past two years I've gone, I've really enjoyed the presentations and definitely think it's worth the money.

Didn't some other all night assignation happen at SWU2 last year? Might have been prom then as well - I just remember you were tired then as well.

George - Prom itself doesn't last two days, but the partying afterwards can linger around for a while, if you know what I mean (and I don't necessarily mean hangovers, either).

Chris - Yep, it was Prom. Although I was physically at SWU2 the next day, mentally was another story... it wasn't really worth it in that case, so I guess I just negated my previous post.

Ahhh... prom. It'll end as soon as it begins... at least that's how I felt the night of.

I'll actually be in Aruba doing the pre-marriage check-out of the place during SWU3... I think my financee somehow planned it that way.

This year at SaltwaterU we will be having a trade show. You will hear Great speakers from around the world who have written countless books. It is DEFINATELY WORTH THE COST OF ADMISSION.

Kayla, don't your prom planners know they scheduled prom on SWU3 weekend???? Listen, the ARC is a powerful lobby here in atlanta, I'm sure with some well placed threats we can get that prom moved for you.

What else is there besides the hangovers? :D

Well, if it's like college or beach week, there's the in-party break ups. The ill-advised hook ups. The occasional need to bail a partier out of jail.

Haha, that would be rather convenient Jesse. But the practicality on that one is rather nonexistant.

There will be many more SWU conferences in the future - I hope! Senior Prom is a one-time deal, unless you have to repeat, of course. Not the case for me.

George, we keep posting at the same time! And you always beat me to the punch.

Well... yeah, who really can say what'll happen with these events? That's the best part of the experience. :D

If we need to flex some muscle, I've hung a few people over the edge of the Westin downtown to get some things change and make the world a better place. I'll be more than happy to offer these services to you. HAHAHA, just kidding.

I would never admit to doing that. :shades:

UGH...I wouldn't even have gone to my prom if I hadn't had a boyfriend at the time. I HAD to go. Of course, I was totally gorgeous ;) Back then, I was about 110 pounds with blondish hair, huge blue eyes, and no glasses...lol. Ah, the good ol' days!!

Kevin, as tempting as it sounds, I may have to get back to you on that one...

Well, I already have a date AND a dress, so there's no turning back. The good news is that this is the last time Prom will interfere with SWU. The bad news is that I prob won't be in ATL next year at this time (unless I do end up @ Tech).
