View Full Version : Pics of my 75gal tank
DMKahlan 03-13-2007, 6:19 PM After months of research and saving the necessary funds, I've officially started my 75gal Reef Tank. I just added water over the weekend. The tank is still a little cloudy, but it's clearing up.
Here are some pics taken today.

Sprayin70 03-13-2007, 6:24 PM Lookin good! I also have a 75, it's neat to see other 75 reefs.
Stroid 03-13-2007, 6:24 PM looks good now the fun stuff begins...well after a little cycling that is
DMKahlan 03-14-2007, 12:44 AM Thanks for the compliments. I can't wait for the fun stuff.
Flipturn88 03-14-2007, 7:41 AM Congrats on taking the plunge! I'm glad to hear a lot of research was involved beforehand; making the effort ahead of time is what saves many reefers from an overwhelming amount of frustration, worry, and a bruised wallet. Please keep us updated as to how it goes!
DMKahlan 04-06-2007, 12:32 AM My tank has cycled. And after many trips to Cap Bay and Optimum Aquarium, I added 20 blue-legged hermit crabs and 3 emerald crabs last week. Today I added a mixture of Mexican Turbo and Black-foot snails and 2 Ocellaris Anemonefish (Nemo).
I'll let them get adjusted to their new home for a little while and look to start adding more.
I'll post more pics this weekend when my MH are on and I'm home.
WOLFIE 04-06-2007, 12:37 AM Congrats on your new tank. Drop me a line when you are ready for corals. I have some beginner corals that I can frag for you

That's what I like to here. :D I had to give my ticket away back in Feb when they were handing out the free stuff, but now I wouldn't mind adding some corals. Shoot me a pm with what you have, any pics (if you have some), and how much.
Is there a chance you will be at the meeting next week?
WOLFIE 04-06-2007, 12:47 AM The only thing that I can frag right now are leather corals. (colt, kenya and blue zoo(I think))
I think it was you that I talk too at that meeting.

It's quite possible we spoke at that meeting. Unfortunately, I don't remember who all I spoke too. It was my first meeting, and I spoke to a lot of folks.
I'll pm you about the corals. I'm very interested in adding some, just need to make sure everything is good to go on my end.
hey doug, just letting you know that I have a colt coral frag that I'm trying to get rid of right now, its about 2.5-3" and I live in acworth too so we can meet up somewhere... I work 12-5 tomorrow so if you want you can come to petco or we can meet up afterwards...
Cameron 04-06-2007, 5:28 AM My tank has cycled. Looking good, bug careful with those Medican Turbos. You have to feed them non-stop and they have a real nasty habit of falling and not getting up. They have to eat large volumes of algae to stay alive. I inherited five from a previous tank and keeping them alive is proving to be challenging. I lost two and gave away two. The last one was struggling until I put him in my overflow which has TONS of algae.
DMKahlan 04-06-2007, 12:05 PM Brad - I just sent you a PM.

Thanks for the heads up about the snails. Currently I have a good bit of algae for them to graze on, but will keep an eye on them once I see the algae disappearing.
DMKahlan 07-08-2007, 4:15 PM It's been about 4 months since I first uploaded some pics of my tank, so I thought while I wasn't playing "GOD" :shades: with my tank I'd take some more pics.
Enjoy

Nice tank Doug! Is that the colt coral I gave you? If so, that thing has taken off!

The one piece to the far right is the one you gave me. It is doing quite nicely. :D
DMKahlan 07-09-2007, 10:40 PM what size is that sump?
It's a 29gal tank converted into a sump/refug.
DMKahlan 10-20-2012, 12:22 PM Ran across this old thread and decided to read it. Wow how things have changed in the aquarium world.
Still have the same aquarium, just with a lot more growth. A lot more...
