View Full Version : Anyone know what is up with Sam?
boalady 09-17-2009, 2:55 AM I had him order me a ballast. It arrived. We talked Monday about meeting Wednesday for me to pick it up. He said to just call and he would give me directions. He had also said he was usually home by 2. I called several times after 3 and left messages. He never called me back. I am really bummed because my anemone is going to have to go another week without optimal light because I work second shift and can't seem to find a time to meet Sam. Today was an off day for me and would have been perfect. I leave Sat night after work to go to Niagara Falls for my Honeymoon and won't be back till next Wednesday.
I tried to support a sponsor, but I'm kicking myself for not ordering it online and it would have been here and installed by now.
Smoothie 09-17-2009, 3:11 AM Get some rest and try him in the morning. Most sponsors will go out of their way to right any situation. Please post how this turns out for you
Jgoal55 09-17-2009, 4:03 AM yup....knowing Sam he'll make it right for sure.
Schwaggs 09-17-2009, 9:45 AM The UPS man comes to Sam's shop. Why not pay $6 to have him UPS it to you? It will be to your house the next day. Sam is a good guy and has always provided me with great service. Something major must have happened if he is not calling you back.
phil47952 09-17-2009, 10:30 AM I asked this once before and never got an answer.....Who is Sam?
Thank you for any answer.
Phil
jaydm93teg 09-17-2009, 11:01 AM Phil,
If I am not mistaken I believe Sam is the owner of Aqua Buys
Rbredding 09-17-2009, 11:03 AM Sam owns an online store (used to be a LFS in Lawrenceville)
www.aquabuys.com
andregarcia_73 09-17-2009, 11:33 AM Yes Sam is the owner and has always provided me with great service as well. I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanaition for this and Sam is a great guy who will make it right. Either way just try him back and see.
boalady 09-17-2009, 12:20 PM I left several messages yesterday. He has yet to call me back. This is not the only time I have left messages and don't receive a response. I need this ballast by Friday at the latest so I have time to hook it up before my trip. Guess I'm going to go online and order it from somewhere else and pay for them to overnight it to me.
fishwhisperer 09-17-2009, 1:11 PM What kind of ballast are you getting? Maybe someone in the ARC has one you can borrow until you get yours?
Sammy has always been very helpful and very attentive to his customers. I understand you need your ballast ASAP, but I'm sure there is a very good reason you haven't heard back from him.
I encourage you to find out the whole story...

For that matter, maybe someone has some "back-up" lighting they can spare untill your return.
Seedless and Linda saved me big time when my whole fixture blew. They loaned me a pendant that kept me going for a month.
I have always had the best customer service and communication from Sam.
boalady 09-17-2009, 2:49 PM I'm getting an Icecap 660 to run 4 54watt t-5s. The only thing besides the fish is my carpet anemone and he isn't too happy this past week. He is open but MUCH smaller. The problem is he has been under inadequate light for 3 weeks+ now. I'm sure you guys can understand my frustration.
This all started at the end of August. I clicked on Add to wait list on his site. 3 days later no response. So I called. He did call back then. Got my order for almost $200 with my credit card. A week goes by and I hadn't heard. He had said probablly mid week because of the labor day holiday. So Wednesday I called and he called back Thursday saying he got it. I was working so didn't get the call. Called him back Friday left message asking when I could pick it up. I could meet him at 2 on my way to work but he would have to be there exactlly at 2. So he called back Monday and we decided that I would pick it up on Wednesday. I called multiple times and left multiple messages and he still hasn't called me back.
I'm out of time now. To overnight the ballast from an online retailer it is going to be $50. Money I don't have right now because I am going on my Honeymoon Saturday as soon as I get off work. I won't be back till Wednesday.
Fish Scales2 09-17-2009, 3:04 PM You can borrow a fixture. Come get it.
Chris (FishScales) is likely closer to you, but I also have a used Sundial (4x54wT5) you could borrow too.

boalady 09-17-2009, 6:36 PM Thanks everyone!
Another sponsor stepped up and has graciously offered to get me the ballast at cost and shipped overnight. As of 3 pm it was on it's way here.
Sam called at 3:40 and offered to ship for free. I declined since I already had one on it's way. So tomarrow my tank will have light again. I will screen the anemone so as to not shock him.
Again thanks so much. You guys have really helped me out.
boalady 09-17-2009, 7:08 PM Oh forgot to add Sam said he got home at 7pm and it was to late to call or meet me.
aquabuys 09-18-2009, 8:03 PM boalady - My most sincere apologies that we could not sync up. I do have a few freebies to add to your next order. :)
I will start another thread here in the Aqua Buys forum very soon with some updates that I hope will make it easier for ARC members to shop with us. You know I care about all of you. :D
Budsreef 10-15-2009, 11:13 PM I'm closing this thread since the original thread starter's issue was resolved. I will also delete all the posts from today that were not related to the original topic.
