So my son wakes me up this morning and says theres water all around the fowlr tank in the basement. The tank had been leaking the whole night ,filled the stand with water and there was quite a bit of water on the floor around it.
Only good thing about it was i found an awesome poly tank that i can use for a sump on my 500.Its a 150 gallon trough i bought from a local feed store here in Ballground.heres some pics of it........

Dimensions are roughly 72"x30"x24"

This sump is nice because it has a single drain on the end unlike the rubbermaid's that have one on the side and are prone to leak.

And while im at it heres some crappy pics of few of my livestock i almost lost last night.Sorry for the clowdy pics but im sure you guys can relate to moving a whole tank over in a few hours.

My pinktail and my eel maze.

I must admit its kind of nice having a look down tank gives you a whole new perspective.

My pinktail and clown trigger dont seem to care one way or another.

My 9-10" saddleback grouper i bought from Jusitn(sharks4u) last week.

Jeweled eel wondering what the hell just happened. My goldentail eel is hiding somewhere.

One of my favorite fish.Clown trigger i got from Poseidon's Reef.I would have been highly dissapointed if i would have lost this guy.

Well this little incident will encourage me to get my 500 up ASAP. :)

WATER ON THE FLOOR !!!!!!!!!
I think we all have been there- more than we care to admit. When I walk in the House the first thing I look for is.

1. No Water on the Floor - check
2. Tank Clear - check
3. Fish Movement - check
4. Flow in Tank - check
5. Now you may breath again .....

Glad you got it worked out

BTW I could probably help your room get finished faster by taking that distracting annoyance of a big screen off your hand

When i first walked up to the tank,i was all droggy from just waking up,wiping my eyes,i could have sworn that the tank was completely empty.I almost had a heart attack. Luckily my wife had been up a bit longer then me,and pointed it out to me that there was in fact water in the tank.Man what a relief...Thats what i get for keeping the glass so clean in the front i couldnt even tell there was water in the tank.LOL

How did the leak start? Was it the tank or equipment (pipe, etc.) leading to the tank?

Andy,it was leaking from the seal on the bottom of the tank itself.Looked to be coming from the front pane and the bottom pane where they meet.I feel extremely lucky that the tank did not seperate and blow out.

Wow, you are extremely lucky. Phew. Makes me nervous just thinking about it.

I love the sump you set up for it. I've been contemplating a sump in my garage (no basement :( ) and that would be perfect. I'll keep that in mind.

Good luck on the upgrade. Keep us posted.

Out of curiosity, how much was that tank? They have a nice 2x1x4 that looks like a good sump candidate for me.

George, I paid around $120 with tax at Clayton feed store up by my house.About the same price that the rubbermaid stock tanks cost at TSC.Im impressed with the build quality of the tank so far.
