We're just a hop, skip and a jump down the road. And everyone likes to see Loren skip... :D JennM 07-07-2009, 8:47 AM And everyone likes to see Loren skip... :D I'd pay $1 to see that! Barbara 07-07-2009, 11:29 AM I'd pay $1 to see that! Me too! I forgot to ask Colin how long he would have to stay in the hospital (or even if he had to stay, but I'd assume at least overnight)? Does anyone know? Does anyone know what hospital he's using? JennM 07-07-2009, 11:31 AM Don't know. He spoke with me about it when he was in the shop recently but I didn't ask for details. I would imagine there will be quite a bit of PT after the fact, but not sure how long they'll keep him. Nowadays there seems to be a revolving door on hospitals. Jenn tjherman 07-07-2009, 3:36 PM Best on recovery, Colin. It seems to be that insurance companies aren't footing the bill for additional days in the hospital. My aunt just went through blood vessel replacement in both legs and then an amputation above the knee... she got sent home maybe a week early! But that's Arizona, not so great healthcare there... Barbara 07-07-2009, 4:02 PM Just spoke with Colin. He sounds great, but he's under heavy pain meds. I didn't believe he was out of sorts until he told me he called me (when I actually called him). We got a chuckle out of that one! He's at Scottish Rite. He will stay tonight and possibly tomorrow night, depending on if he can keep food down. Right now he's still throwing up everything and he has to be able to hold it down before he will be released. He said he was up and actually took a few steps using parallel bars in the hospital today. He said he felt great, surgery went well and didn't take a full two hours. He seems very upbeat and even had visitors when I called, so I didn't talk long. wbrown 07-07-2009, 6:16 PM that's outstanding news! We need to smuggle some Ippolito's in to him, I bet he keeps that down. :) JennM 07-10-2009, 1:33 PM I just got off the phone with Colin too :) He asked me for Loren's number (I only had Linda's number - hope you don't mind I shared it with him...) He sounds great - he's feeling good and has started PT. He doesn't have internet at home he's cruised the site a bit on his phone - but he wanted me to let folks know he's doing just fine! Thanks be to God for favors received :) Jenn wbrown 07-10-2009, 2:11 PM that's awesome that He's home and doing well. andregarcia_73 07-10-2009, 2:43 PM God is good! I'm glad he's doing fine. cr500_af 07-10-2009, 6:53 PM He called me today and I gave him Loren's number. Sounded very upbeat on the phone, which I was glad to hear! LeeS 07-11-2009, 10:01 PM That's great news. Hang in there Colin. theplantman 07-11-2009, 10:11 PM glad to hear you are doing well. We are wishing you a speedy recovery. atreyu917 07-11-2009, 10:15 PM PT is hard as anything according to my mom, but you can do it! Wishing you a quick recovery! Mockery 07-12-2009, 2:15 PM Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. I've been home since thursday night, but for the most part am in a wheelchair, so I will definatly be needing help with with tank chores. Mockery 07-23-2009, 10:22 PM So I thought I would give a little update on my progress. I got the cast off last week. Doc said everything looked good. Hopefully the stitches come out tomorrow, and I've started an intense pt program. cr500_af 07-23-2009, 10:24 PM Awesome! It was great seeing you doing so well at Cliff's last weekend. LeeS 07-25-2009, 2:36 PM Great to hear Colin. coolsurf 07-25-2009, 5:55 PM :thumbs:Glad to hear you'll be back in the game soon! Mockery 08-07-2009, 1:44 PM Well got some GREAT NEWS!! It feels very weird to walk without a foot. I'll post some pics of it later tonight! atreyu917 08-21-2009, 5:57 PM YAY!!!!!! That was quicker than I would have thought! wbrown 08-21-2009, 7:07 PM Yea Colin, pics or it didn't happen. :) MrsNecropolis 08-21-2009, 7:56 PM Yay, Colin. Mockery 08-21-2009, 9:07 PM Ok pics http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/mockery1982/DSC_0239.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/mockery1982/DSC_0237.jpg http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/mockery1982/DSC_0249.jpg And this is the actual prosthesis http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/mockery1982/prosthesis.jpg atreyu917 08-21-2009, 9:14 PM Wow that's awesome!! You getting around ok? Is it pretty comfortable? Mockery 08-21-2009, 9:23 PM It is really different to walk in right now. I spent the first 18 years walking wrong and now walking the right way is different. Plus my ankle could on move up and down a little and now the way this one is made it has alot of movement so I'm just not used to it. As for comfort they not really made for that I have to squeeze my limb into so it feels kinda tight, but they say that should go down in a few weeks. atreyu917 08-21-2009, 9:36 PM Sorry if I'm rude for asking, but what was originally wrong with your foot? Smoothie 08-22-2009, 2:39 AM Looking at this thread got the song "back in the saddle" (aerosmith?) stuck in my head. Looks like you are dominating this and sweet new leg by the way dude. wbrown 08-22-2009, 6:45 AM how many miles is the warranty? that is one cool looking prosthetic, whats something like that cost? JennM 08-22-2009, 8:26 AM Yay! He's bionic!!! Glad you're getting on well, Colin! tjherman 08-22-2009, 12:28 PM That looks like an insanely awesome prosthetic. It's amazing how far prosthetics have come in the last few years. You have inner strength, Colin. Big ol' thumbs up! Mockery 08-22-2009, 3:03 PM Sorry if I'm rude for asking, but what was originally wrong with your foot? No not at all. I was born with a severXX case of bilateral club foot. Club foot causes bones to grow funny, tendon's to be short, among other stuff. So back in December they had taken some x-ray's and they told me I my foot is slowly getting worse so it was how many miles is the warranty? that is one cool looking prosthetic, whats something like that cost? It is a limited 10 month 10,000,000 step powertrain warranty. ;) Actually it is 60 days. As for cost no idea insurance covers that!!! atreyu917 08-22-2009, 7:02 PM So was it painful before you got the amputation? I'm assuming it probably was at least a little bit. I'm SO SO SO amazed about how positive you are about this. But I'm sure it's like freedom for you Delloman 08-22-2009, 7:52 PM wow man my buddy has similar problems i have seen him deal with trying to walk "right" one of his lags is shorter then the other among Meany other deformities and i can relate to your situation. Tho i do not think he would have the guts to have a lag removed you really have some willpower i hope you have a long and successful life. sailfish 08-22-2009, 8:53 PM Looking Good. Joe jt955 08-22-2009, 9:15 PM all right colin lookin good, i have not forgot about that paintball game you challenged me to. lol |
