Chris, if I'm not mistaken I saw some of this in your display case for sale. What's your opinion of it? Somebody who got two jars in the Box O' Crap deal gave them to me (if I didn't take them they were going in the trash).

Just wondered what the stuff was all about... like anything else, if you read the label you'll think it fixes all water parameters and cures athletes' foot.

The biggest thing that made me raise my eyebrows was that it says, "No expensive water change-ever".

By the way, sorry we missed you Sunday.

I had been wondering this myself.

Well, if it cures athlete's foot, I'm so there!......

I've heard good things about it...

I'm running some of the Chemi-Pure Elite (has Ferric addition for PO control) in one tank to test it out as we speak. Water quality has been good since added, but the tank was in great shape to start with. Would be more telling in a nutrient rich tank.

It says "Helps to remove red slime (Cyano bacteria)".

You could try it in your 12g Cyano breeding tank... though it would be a shame to lose your breeding stock. :D

LOL.....my 12 gallon was a mantis holding tank from months ago and I keep it up in case I ever need to QT/store something. Silly Eclipse Bio-Wheel and no flow results in some impressive cyano but in that little tank I just let it be as it stops once the nutrients are gone.

That tank is being turned into a feeder starfish holding tank for my Harlequin shrimp as we speak.

I have had pretty good results with Chemi-pure elite. I have it in a bio-cube and in my 100 and it seems to keep the water crystal clear. I never had red-slime so I can't comment on that.

I haven't tried it but it is my understanding that it does the same thing as seachem's purigen, removes DOC, silicates etc. I'm using the purigen and it does clear up the water pretty well. It also improved my orp by around 30mv.

Over on NR.com those guys all swear by Chemi-Pure Elite. Of course most of those guys use it in All in Ones. The stuff is supposed to last for 6 months or so I believe..

It does claim 6 months but I'll believe it when I see it. A bag for a 40 gallon tank is probably around 500g (just guessing, I threw away the tub) when like 40g of Purigen is good for 40 gallons so maybe the mere quantity is what gives it the long life.

This is Chemi Pure Elite, and the bag is 333g. It says 5-40g use 1 bag, 40-100g use two.

I have used Chemi-pure for years and recently switched to Chemi-pure Elite on my JBJ 28 - great so far. I have always liked the Chemi-pure product and would recommend it. I change it more frequently than stated in the directions though.
