View Full Version : Adam's 45 Tech Tank
Akopley 06-23-2009, 3:02 PM Since I am never home I decided to set up a tank at my office. It is a Oceanic Tech Tank that I acquired from Dave (acroholic). I am awaiting a key piece from Heath (Hfleming), but so far I am very happy with the tank.
Equipment:
45 Gallon Tech Tank
Vortech Mp40w Gen 2
Lumenarc Mini 250w Icecap with really old phoenix 14k bulb
Euroreef skimmer with sedra 3500
20 gallon sump with DIY fuge
Mag 7 return
here are the pics...

tjherman 06-26-2009, 2:11 PM Wow. Love the new full tank shot. That's so much color jam-packed into a small space. I bet it's nice to have that at work when you're feeling stressed.
bclark7169 06-26-2009, 2:14 PM Looks good. I like sand bottoms but it looks very good BB
Akopley 06-26-2009, 2:14 PM It is perfect...but I miss having a tank at home.
Akopley 06-26-2009, 2:15 PM my camera phone does no justice to the color.
blu_devl_06 06-26-2009, 2:36 PM Thank you so much for not overblueing and killing all the wonderful color!! That is a gorgeous tank!!!
Akopley 06-26-2009, 2:56 PM 14k phoenix is in the mail...will likey be a shade bluer than the 1.5 year old phoenix that is in there currently.
texhorns98 06-26-2009, 6:50 PM Looks good. I like sand bottoms but it looks very good BB
You know, you're right. There is so little glass bottom showing there that is DOES look pretty good as is.
Acroholic 06-26-2009, 7:32 PM Looking great Adam....the bottom will get coraline all over it anyways.
You can always add sand for buffering later if you find KH or Ca hard to maintain.
Dave
Akopley 07-05-2009, 11:43 PM I did my weekly water testing and KH was at 7. Would a sand bed help keep it higher? Calcium was at 440. All other params were normal. KH was at 10 last week.

Adam has the plate tree dropped any babies yet?
Joe
At least two have dropped that I know of. Both were under my rocks in a place I could not remotely reach. I decided to add a sand bed so that future drops will not get swept under by my vortech. The plates are looking really good though and I expect more drops within the month.
Delloman 07-31-2009, 3:05 AM realy nice

glxtrix 08-18-2009, 2:23 PM Sand now huh....oh well, still looks great :)
Akopley 08-18-2009, 2:28 PM I lost two plate corals that dropped from my tree so I added the sand bed to keep them in place...no drops since though.
Smoothie 08-21-2009, 1:35 AM I know you have a line, but let me know if you start selling drop offs.
Nice tank!
Akopley 08-21-2009, 1:41 AM I am actually thinking about selling it. The increased flow in my tank has forced me to move all my LPS onto the rocks around the sides. I really can't find a place for the plate tree where it isn't getting really heavy flow. I don't want to place it on the rocks because I won't be able to apprehend the drop offs. I have offered it to Chris at Fish Scales for the price I paid but if he doesn't respond by the end of the weekend I will likely put it on the boards.
Smoothie 08-21-2009, 1:51 AM It would be nice to see it stay in the family. Alot of good reefers on here would love to have it if the deal falls.
I loove that plate tree!! Definatley let me know if you sell it. Great tank, btw!!!!
