http://www.atlantareefclub.org/images/sponsormap_sm.jpg (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/index.php?page=sponsormap) I finally got the sponsor map up and going finally on the site. The delay was getting all working within the site's templates. I need to add one or two new sponsors, but it should be accurate. Let me know if you see any problems.

It's linked (for now) on the home page, on the new Forums drop down menu (look up), and as an icon on the sponsor page.

Good job Chris. Makes it very convenient to see what's around and where all the different places are.

Thanks.

Google API, but I did the work to pull from our own XML file (http://www.atlantareefclub.org/sponsormap/data.xml) for the data, so that it was easier to update going forward.. Eventually, I'd like to get it setup to pull from the forum database of sponsor data, but since all that isn't even stored in the db yet, it's a long ways off.

Can you manipulate the maps so they have all the same features as google maps such as the mouse wheel scroll zoom in/out?

I'm not sure that's even an option in the API. If it is, I'll certainly add it - do you know?

wow... that must of been some project manually looking up all those gps coordinates and hand typing them into xml format. You should give props to whoever pulled that off!

Well, it appears that the mousewheel support does exist (http://ejohn.org/blog/one-week-of-google-maps-part-7/), but every incarnation of the code that I've tried doesn't work. I'm not sure how out of date this information is (18 months, but don't know what changed).

In either case, it's a minor issue, so I'm marking this one done for now. Time to move on to other things.

If anyone wants a Google Earth ".kmz" file, PM me and I'll email it to you. It's 32k and holds the folder information for the 'my places' section within Google Earth. (ARC site won't let me upload this file type.)

You'll need the free download www.earth.google.com (http://www.earth.google.com) to make it work.

Very nice Chris!

Regarding Scientific Coral, it should be noted that they do not have a store front and do not do retail sales from their location.

It would be cool to have a map like this will all the ARC members. Of course with their permission so not to disclose those in the witness protection program.
