jmaneyapanda 06-10-2009, 1:34 PM How much is the lionfish that got Steve? Its now an LE Ultra Lionfish, and the cost should triple. Any fish that would try to do him in, is a friend of mine.
How ceratin are you that the lanceolatus is actually a lanceolatus. PM me the price, please.
Barbara 06-10-2009, 4:44 PM That Midas is beautiful! Give Matt a call; he often gets busy during the day and doesn't check the site.
Jeremy, I saw the Lanceolatus Fairy Wrasse. It's definately one. Long pointy tail; the pink color variation. I'll try to find a pic on Google. I told Matt to send you the price via PM and I think he may have already done that.
Now for the best news of all. I of course wasn't interested in the "Sunset Fairy Wrasse" (also known as the Banana Wrasse, or scientific name Thalassoma lutescens, which is not reef safe). But Matt was so excited about the new shipment and asked me if I had seen it. He went to the tank to show it to me so I looked. Holy Pylie!!! It was a Pylie Fairy Wrasse, not a Banana Wrasse. The distributor's loss is my gain, and I came home with a $200 fish for $75. I have always wanted a Pylie but couldn't justify dropping $200 for one. Now I've got a beauty for a fraction of the cost. Matt was great. When I saw the fish, I asked him how much and he said "cheap". I pointed out that was not a Banana wrasse, and was in fact a Pylie, a $200 fish. Matt passed his savings on to me, even knowing he had a $200 fish. Thanks Matt!
jmaneyapanda 06-10-2009, 5:14 PM Barbara, there is much debate over the C. lanceolatus vs. the C. cf. lanceolatus (looks like lanceolatus). I am trying to find out where it really was identified.
Barbara 06-10-2009, 6:04 PM Jeremy, it definitely wasn't this:
http://www.danj.com/reef/wrasse_detail.php?wrasse_id=24
It was more like this:

Since I just got a Pylei that was labeled as a Sunset, I certainly understand your concern.
jmaneyapanda 06-10-2009, 8:07 PM Its not that I dont trust Creation, I just dont trust Steve. Hey-OOOOO.
Seriously, I am more interested in the taxonomy. Either fish is great.
Barbara 06-10-2009, 11:01 PM I totally understand. Even the LFS is "victim" to distributor mislabeling. I am of course a recent beneficiary of such a mislabeling. My new Pylei (distributor sold as a banana wrasse!) is resting comfortably in the QT tank as we speak!
Barbara, where did you p/u your Pylei at?
Smoothie 06-14-2009, 1:07 AM Garden eels! Mmmmmm what size and how often can you get them?
andregarcia_73 06-14-2009, 2:37 AM Still have to check this place out!
Barbara 06-14-2009, 10:57 AM Barbara, where did you p/u your Pylei at?
Doug, it was shipped to Creation as a "Sunset Fairy Wrasse". Matt posted his new shipments and I looked them up. Sunset Fairy is also known as the Banana Wrasse, so I wasn't interested. But Creation is so close to me I go there all the time. Matt wanted me to see the new Fairy wrasses 'cause he knows I'm into them, so he showed me this "Sunset" wrasse. It was really a Pylei, mislabeled by the distributor. It was "mischarged" by the distributor too. Even after I told Matt it was a $200 fish, he sold it to me for the price he had set based on his distributor cost (for a sunset wrasse). I got the Pylei for $75 (closer to $70 after my discount and taxes!). Pretty sweet deal, huh?
Barbara 06-14-2009, 12:11 PM I'm pathetic! Since he's in QT and there's no light over the QT, I can't snap a good pic of him. I tried, but this is how it came out.
dough 06-14-2009, 12:43 PM He doesn't look happy in your tank.........So I'll do the right thing and take him off your hands...LOL...Can't wait to see him out of QT...
I wish Creations wasn't a hours drive for me. They've got some nice LS. I'm looking for a wrasse or 2 to round out my tank.
Barbara 06-14-2009, 12:47 PM I think I must have done something right this week b/c I found a female pylei's for only $80 (plus shipping). Granted my male is the Cebu coloration, and the female is from Vanuatu, but they should get along. I've ordered her and she will be here Tuesday. Then it's time for some Barry Manilow (I already have the mood lighting.....). I can't wait! I've already named the male "Billy" because he's a billy bad azz, already harassing the others that were in the QT. I found a female lubbocks, so I had pulled my male out and had both of them in the QT tank when I found the pylei. When I put Billy in the QT tank, he started chasing the lubbocks around, so I've had to move the lubbocks couple back into the 90. Looks like they were together long enough though; I see them together in the 90 now. So on to the next happy couple; my pyleis!
You're such a match maker! LOL....
Barbara 06-14-2009, 1:11 PM I have 2 marriages under my belt too! One going on 25 years and one going on 20! I'm goooooooooooooooooood!
Barbara 06-15-2009, 12:43 PM He's moving around in the QT, and with the ambient light and flash, I was able to capture some of his beauty. Don't mind the nosy leopard wrasse in the picture. That belongs to a friend who shall remain nameless......
And don't worry; that big metal clip is not in the tank; it's on the back side on the floor.

I like that Leopard Wrasse Barb! haha
Barbara 06-17-2009, 8:06 PM Too bad that leopard is scared of Billy and rarely comes out. I moved Billy up to a new tank today, but I'm going to have to put a McNeil's Assessor in with the leopard now. Darn leopard hasn't come out of the sand all day today. Ugh!
Assesor? Really? Haven't seen one in a while!
Barbara 06-17-2009, 8:09 PM Come on by some time. Got me a beautiful female Pylei's too. The happy couple are getting to know each other in a quiet 10G. I'm sending you a pm.
James S. 06-17-2009, 10:03 PM I like that Leopard Wrasse Barb! haha
